Leicester City’s summer spending spree is set to continue with manager Brendan Rodgers hoping to bring in “a few players” before the deadline, including an attacking midfielder.

City have spent £76 million so far this summer, buying Youri Tielemans, Ayoze Perez and James Justin to rank second for Premier League expenditure behind Aston Villa, and their business has not concluded yet.

While Rodgers is happy with the City squad as it stands, he plans to further strengthen his options before 5pm on Thursday, August 8, while he also expects the club to part with players.

“I'd still like to get a few players in that can help us,” Rodgers said. “We've got really good players here and we're wanting to add to that.

“There will be probably be players who go out as well in relation to players that need to go and play.

“I’m very happy with the squad. We know as a club where we’re at and there’s a strategy behind improving it further.

“If we do that, that’d be great. If we don’t, then I’m very happy.”

An attacking midfielder to provide support for Tielemans and James Maddison appears to be the priority for Rodgers over the final three weeks of the window.

The Northern Irishman wants depth in every department with City hoping to secure a top-six finish this season, which could earn the club a place in Europe.

“There’s a few areas that we’re looking at,” Rodgers added. “It’s to give that strength to the squad.

“We hope in the future we’ll be playing many more games so for that we need quality.

“It’s all based around affordability and, more importantly, availability.

“If the right player is available that we want to bring in, it would be nice to bring in another attacking midfield player, that could really help with support.

“We’ll see what else we’ll need after that.”

Rodgers suggested earlier this year that signing a new winger was on his summer wishlist. Perez could be that man, although it is understood that the City boss also wanted a utility forward, for which the Spaniard fits the profile.

City could yet enter the market for a new centre-back too, should Harry Maguire’s valuation be met by Manchester United or Manchester City.

Hi Brendan, I am available on a free transfer and can play attacking centre mid or wide right. My pace isn't what it used to be, but my GIFS will bring huge entertainment to the group and I have some cracking jokes lined up about the state of Ihenacho's new hair cut and that JJ is already competing for the "falling over the most times in a single match" award currently held by Shinji Okazaki.

The price you'll need to pay for me and my desired wages should easily put me in the "affordable" bracket.

Awaiting your response :fc:

??. I have a friend who’s a mad keen Sheff Utd fan. Every time they sack a manager he applies. Always gets a ‘not this time’ response from the club. ?‍♂️

That’s hilarious ?

Get rid of the garbage first, we've got too many players as it is.

Muck like King, James, Diabate, Slimani etc will only probably go in the closing stages of the window when clubs know parent clubs get desperate and agree to slashing transfer fees or subsidise their wages, we've seen it the last few seasons. These players are on vast wages with us and it's frustrating but this is the price PL clubs pay for being awash with money and players not being good enough.

Someone i worked with in the 90's used to apply for every job. Hes has letters from most british clubs including celtic rangers and most of the top six. All saying thanks but no thanks.
