StanSP Posted 9 August 2019 Author Posted 9 August 2019 Ah damn, the title is not as exciting any more
Analysethis Posted 9 August 2019 Posted 9 August 2019 Hopefully that £100k helps Bury in some sort of way to avoid going bust. It looks like they are on the brink.
Langston Posted 9 August 2019 Posted 9 August 2019 The strangest hairline in footy - good luck Callum
Voll Blau Posted 9 August 2019 Posted 9 August 2019 Yeah, hope we've given them a fair price to help them in their hour of need.
Micky Posted 9 August 2019 Posted 9 August 2019 Apparently they need 8 million. What a shame the Premier League teams can't get together and help them out.

I'd like to know how they've gotten into £8mill worth of debt tbh. It would be great to see the Prem help out etc, but there looks to be underlying issues behind racking up that debt

The state of Bolton is horrific too, they've got about 3 senior players, and given they are a historic club and founder member it's sad to see.

The game is broken. I can tell you for a fact that there are teams in the conference north paying players £1500 a week. How can you sustain that when you are only get 800 fans through the gate.

Its horrible to see when a club ends up like the 2 mentioned; but at the same time why did they think giving wages out like they have is a good idea? This is where I'm in two minds. I'd love to see the prem come in and pay off the debtors and give the club a second chance, but there would have to be a condition than someone from the FA or Prem comes in and manages finances for a bit rather than just letting something that clearly wasn't working have another go.

That's not the game being broken; it's the betting companies, the TV companies that are simultaneously making the game great by providing money, are also cutting off the smaller clubs
CosbehFox Posted 9 August 2019 Posted 9 August 2019 I hope the money has gone to the people owed rather than the existing owner.

Nah man I get you. Some clubs do get themselves into the mess in the first place but for me when it gets to this point it's just awful for the fans and they've not caused this. Take Bury and Bolton, you've got fans who go every week when they could so easily just "support" a Manchester club. The Bolton fans were a credit at on Saturday and every player stood and applauded them. Most of them were under 21 players.

As much as I would love this, it sets a dangerous precedent. At what point is the line drawn? If you help Bury out, do you help Bolton out? If clubs get in to severe losses, do they just start asking Premier League clubs to bail them out? It shouldn't be up to PL clubs to help out (again, it would be great of course). It should be the responsibility of the EFL and FA (?) to vet these owners and ensure financial stability before it even gets to a stage like this.

It's what the worst thing is; the fans have probably supported their club all their lives and to see if be burnt down from the inside by people in suits with no love for the game. Things have to change for that to happen, FFP was meant to stop clubs getting into this position. But it's clearly not working as it was meant to.

The structure of English football does not work. It is not sustainable for the majority of clubs. The whole thing needs a rethink.
baldeagle Posted 9 August 2019 Posted 9 August 2019 All nice talking about Bury’s debts and all that but does any one know what he’s like as a footballer

We really got away away with it and emerged stronger…. Leaving a trail of debt to multiple business should never be that easy…. Rightly the rules have been tightened up…
