Getting brexit done!

If only people had this much enthusiasm for checking stuff before they voted for Brexit and giving Boris Johnson an 80 seat majority.

Or, indeed, for conspiracy theories like anti-vaxx sentiment or climate change ignorance that could end up having really nasty consequences.

Brexit is, and always was about borders and immigration.

Whether the anecdotal stuff from Brits in the EU is true or not, we all know that Brexiters are still struggling to come to terms with the fact that it works both ways.

Even after 5 years of this, the sense of entitlement is astonishing.

You can't have it both ways though. Remainers do fetishize experts and criticise Brexiters and right-wingers in general for believing fake news, so you can't now accept it on the basis of 'they started it'.

This chap may be fictitious, but there are many, many people over here finding themselves going back to the UK at the end of this week. The thing is though, that if they have been living here legally since last year they are perfectly entitled to stay under the terms of the WA and apply for residency. Nobody should be refused if they were legal on 31.12.20. People are now finding that you can't keep an address in the UK from which to claim your benefits whilst living in another country though, and that you can't just pop back to use the NHS, instead you need to pay for (pretty expensive) private healthcare here, and pay your taxes. Who'd have thought it?

There are also plenty of people refusing to listen and take any action who seem to think the rules either bizarrely don't affect them, or that they won't be imposed. Folk who live 'under the radar', who reckon they will still be able to drive around in their UK plated car, with their UK license, and won't have any bother when they try to go on holiday somewhere else or visit family in the UK. They may get back to the UK, that's if they never get stopped by the police in the meantime, but the fines for overstaying and then the subsequent restrictions on re entering the EU can be pretty hefty.

As someone else said, the entitlement of some people who somehow think that Spain (and other countries possibly) are going to extend UK nationals some kind of special rules is completely baffling.

Yep your completely right on this. Even if Spain or other country's wanted to extend some kind of agreement they simply cannot do this under EU law.

I feel sorry for the UK as some of these cretins will be coming back

Its like when the morons aren't allowed to leave on their cheap package holidays and stay in the UK instead.  Nightmare.
