Players You'd Love To See In A City Shirt

Recommended Posts

As a Yin to the other thread's Yang, which player would you just LOVE to see in a City shirt.  Doesn't have to necessarily be the best player just one you love.  To make it interesting let's have one form the PL, one from overseas and one from history.

PL - David Silva - Just love him, one of the few opposition players I genuinely love.  Son would've been a close second usually but he seems to have turned into a bit of a nobber this season.

Overseas - Gotta be Messi hasn't it?  Simply the GOAT and much more likable than the other, semi GOAT with the abs.

History - Tough one but probably has to be one I have personally seen as cannot make judgment on earlier payers (Pele, Best obvs).  Maybe not the best player ever but I loved Batistuta growing up and would love to have seen him in a shitty 90s Leicester top.  Bergkamp too for me.  Still, in my humble opinion, the most technically gifted player to have played in the PL and was a real statement of intent for the PL at the time.  Still remember Elliott almost applauding him after he got turned inside out for the last goal of that famous hat-trick.

PL - Van Dijk maybe?

Overseas - (Semi-realistic) - Timo Werner/Andrea Belotti - both would fill gaps we really need at the moment

(Never in a million years, but would love to see) - Messi

History - Iker Casillas. My idol growing up as a goalkeeper. One of the best the world has ever seen.

Also, Robert Earnshaw circa 2004.

As my strike partner. With Jason Koumas in midfield behind us.

Juan Mata in his prime. Not only a decent player but also seems a top bloke.

Probably Cazorla for the same reasons, plays/played the game beautifully tbf.

Good shout.  X

Herein lies why we'll never get to the bottom of who's the best. You simply can't mention one without mentioning the other

Where's the sick emoji?

You've redeemed yourself with Koumas though.

2004 was pre Forest. We'd get in there first and make him our own.

When Bryan Robson was at WBA he basically sabotaged Earnie's career for personal reasons, between 04-06 only Thierry Henry had more goals per Prem minutes than Earnie. He was like the Erling Haaland of his day, loads of goals in no time at all.

Just like Vards, he had records at every level.

He's the only player to score hattricks in all four professional English leagues, both cups and for his country.

Basically he was robbed of a balon dor by terrible management.

Gotta be Bergcamp or Zola for me from the recent Premier league sublime skills

Roberto Carlos from history - just so i could watch one of those ridiculous free-kicks go in live

Current international? Can't look past Messi.

Aye loved the wee guy.  That era of the PL seems like a golden age although it's probably just because I was young and less bitter and hate filled.X

Bergkamp and Zola are good shouts, basically any of those play the game as if they have all the time in the world

Cambiasso at his pomp, and Pirlo at his.

Torres was one of my favourite players as an impressionable pre-pubescent sprog, in his prime he was unbelievable. Shame injuries robbed him.

Ronaldo Nazario

Henry

It looks like I have a type and that type is tall, elegant, pacy forwards

Random but I loved watching Rosicky play.

Czech Republic in Euro 2004 probably the most I've ever supported a team other than Leicester or Wales. Loved Rosicky.

The wins against Netherlands and Germany two of my favourite ever summer tournament games.

Also the banger he hit against the septics in the following world cup was ridiculous.

Pavel Nedved

A prime Franck Ribéry.

Also liked Matt Le Tissier although these days we'd probably think he is lazy AF

Ibrahimovic would be awesome too

And finallly 100% agree with Cazorla and Suarez.

Was such a good team. Had the likes of Nedved, Poborsky and Jankulovski too didn't they. Velvet footballers.

Nedved, Rosicky, Poborsky and a twelve foot giraffe with a granite skull.
