What was his best XI he played with?

I assume it was in the podcast, for anyone like me who can't listen

Dean Hammond said: “I wouldn’t say Nigel is only the best manager I worked under at Leicester, he’s the best manager I worked under in my career. He’s a real man manager, he has a presence and he’s really honest with you. He knows the game very, very well and he can hold the room. There was no falseness to it. If Nigel told you you were playing well, then that was the truth. If Nigel told you you weren’t playing well, then that was the truth. There was no reason behind it, he wasn’t trying to motivate you in a different way – it was just brutal honesty. That worked for me and it worked for the players at Leicester.”

Seems to be the consensus from every player back then Nige was the best manager they had worked with. What a ****ing Don he is.

His man management skills must be so good. I never understand how some city fans can dislike Nigel, his job here was second to none. Saved us as a football club alongside Shakey and Walsh and we were very lucky to have him.

forget that mate. some of the people  on here know how he was as a manager way better than anyone who actually played for him..

Who dislikes him? I always got the impression his reputation amongst Leicester fans is very good.

In fact nigel doing a great job here is one of the few things that everyone is in complete agreement of here.

Think you would be surprised. I really can't fathom any ill feeling to the bloke myself.

I remember Chris Powell on Football Focus a few years ago being asked who the best manager he played under was with the interviewer assuming he'd say Alan Curbishley with that successful Charlton side, but he said no, it was Pearson too.

I don’t think anyone Leicester fan dislikes Nigel.

I think a section of the fan base have a frustration with him being hailed as the messiah, who could do no wrong.

I’m largely happy with him. I’ll always be an O’Neill guy though.

Trust me, there are some fans who can't stand him. They said as much while he was winning us titles and keeping us in the PL. I won't mention any any names, but they're on here.

There will always be dissenters and everyone is entitled to their opinions on managers, players etc.

Sometimes somebody comes along who is the right fit at the right time and there is no denying that NP was that man at that time. As was Claudio and MON.

Over the years there are those who will be remembered fondly, some with vitriol and some with mixed feelings or not at all.

Some performed miracles on a shoestring (Nige, MON) others spurned millions (Taylor, Sven) on dross.

Claudio will always be remembered for winning us the title, and there is no doubt that he was the perfect fit, but it was not sustainable, and that is where i actually think that NP, MON, Jimmy Bloomfield and Matt Gillies (before my time) must rank as our top managers because they all managed to bring us sustained periods of relative success. They also excited us with their brands of football, and the teams they put together. Puel on the other hand, made some great signings but his style was boring and that is what he will be remembered for, Taylor will be remembered as the man that took us down after squandering MON legacy.

Others of course will be remembered for the way that they left us (McGee, Megson). We were all sad when MON left, but nobody really held it against him (none of the Judas placards ala Little), Pearson's position was untenable due to the actions of his brain dead son, and both left us in pretty decent shape, with hope for the future, having done a rebuilding job.

One other forum/message board have a majority of members that were always very consistantly anti-Pearson. The FOAD incident was proof to them of his character and anyone in support was ridiculed. Even giving us the best 2nd tier season in the clubs history wasn't enough for some wanting him out. All a bit odd.

Apart from Jimmy Bullard who is a bellend anyway, it’s extremely rare to hear any ex players have a bad word to say about Nigel Pearson.

Maybe he's just bullied and headbutted/ chinned them into saying good things?

For such a hothead and weirdo, a lot of supposed pampered, soft footballers seem to think very highly of him.
