Liverpool had basically won the league by Christmas, they've utterly smashed it.

For the first time in 30 years.

We've had 4 PL winners since the last time Bayern didn't win their league. There's a massive difference.

I'm pretty sure you just wilfully missed the point but then I'd say that's essentially been your forte for 95% of our interactions over the last ten years.

Wow that's depressing.

Cup competitions are more likely to be affected by variance. Like with Greece and Portugal winning the Euros - Man City  are a better team than Lyon but that’s football.

European football is at a crossroads currently, the Spanish hegemony appears to be on the decline. Barca are appallingly ran from the top down and Real aren’t the same side they were even 2 or 3 years ago, even if their squad is fairly youthful they’re not an obviously elite side anymore and it will take a few years for them to reestablish themselves. Atlético are Atlético, they’re fantastic collectively but they lack the quality to dominate teams when necessary.

Liverpool and Man City are two elite sides but they’re not infallible, you could imagine either of those winning the CL next year which I don’t think you could say for a lot of clubs. They’ve got superb teams, managers and recruitment and they’re the main things for sustainable success. Chelsea and United have too many serious flaws.

German football is probably going to have a strong few years, Bayern’s squad composition is brilliant - they’ve rebuilt well and have the right fit with Flick in charge. Favre is rubbish but Dortmund have an incredibly talented squad and are capable of beating anyone, if they were to get a proper manager in they could be frightening. Leipzig are bastards but they’re so well run, they’ll just continually improve and be a threat because they’ve got a superb manager and probably the best recruitment on the planet.

Juve aside Italian sides haven’t achieved much over the last decade, Juve are a declining power too so can’t see them doing a sight. Atalanta are great but too open to consistently reach the latter stages and their key players aren’t in their peak years. Inter are decent these days but Conte’s CL record isn’t shite, Lazio, Roma, and Milan are not good enough.

PSG aren’t that great. I could see them spawning a CL win but as a team they’re not wholly convincing. Monaco, Lyon, Marseille, Lille or whoever else are thousands of miles off.

Imo football in general is sh*t currently.

All 5 major European leagues are pretty familiar. Dominated by teams getting 90+ points.

Not much competitiveness.

All this time wasting not punished, water breaks, 5 substitutions, all teams playing similar styles of pass pass pass and worst of all, the amount of fouls/penalty’s given every game is ridiculous. So many soft fouls, players go down at the slightest brush and get it every time.

It was tiring watching games the last few years, the game is becoming dull, stop start, predictable and boring.

Most of the games nowadays are non contact, fans quiet in general like it’s a Sunday round of golf, and it’s just basically a passing game whilst on the ball and sitting super deep when off it.

Its not the same game as the earlier days. The peak for football was 92-2006ish those years it was fiery , exciting and a real game.

Watching so many games back on retro and it gets your hairs standing up. It’s physical, players get stuck in, there’s scraping , there’s arguing, the fans are roaring at the ref and players. Arsenal vs Utd at Highbury 04/05 was just pure unreal.

I was so adamant on this, I did some research and found this:

The amount of penalty’s given:

1992/93-2005-2006(First 14 seasons) - 910 - average of 65 a season.

2006/07-2019-2020(Recent 14 seasons) - 1,300 - average of 92.5 a season.

That is a huge difference!! And backed up what Ive been saying that it’s gone too soft!

Pogbas pen vs Spurs, Rashford vs us, Sterling vs us even, Sterling vs Liverpool..let’s not even get into the likes of Fernandes vs A Villa!! It’s just becoming a joke.

Im not saying I want teams to be able to break legs and punch people, but **** me it’s becoming a joke.

The rules have ruined the game, you arnt allowed to tackle, if you feel any contact you just fall to the ground and ref blows, it’s stop start, no flow, no passion, no atmosphere for this reason from the fans. It also is the reason for me that top teams get more points and teams like Liverpool can win 26 of their first 27 games(something that just shouldn’t happen ever and is ruining the sport).

Utd and arsenal were dominant in 90s but you knew they could draw/lose a good chunk on the time and barely scrape 80 points most seasons, and I’d argue the lower clubs were less talented. The reason I put it down to is all the above.

If you went to away to physical teams like a Wimbledon, a, you got kicked, you got fans going mad at you and you got such hostility that the skill evens out. Suddenly it’s a tougher game. If Utd Won away they would be in the changing room thinking ‘what a win, tough battle today’.

Now you get just easy cruises in the park because it’s pass pass and suits the better teams and the other teams just try and stay in shape and hold on constantly.

All these factors are contributing to a non exciting and more dull game.

Of course this is just my opinion, some will love the way the games going - I.e more passing, less contact, less passion etc.

Its a fine line, they have gradually ‘softened’ it up over the years to prevent injuries and I agree with cutting out nasty studs up challenges and that, however they need to change the rules in general over what a foul/penalty is and allow physicality if upper body and contact. It’ll stop players falling over at the first sign of a physical confrontation to just take a free kick.

It will never change back, that’s the problem. However it’s clear this is why the games becoming dull and predictable and less exciting to watch and why leagues are dominated by the best teams to an unprecedented extent.

Money plays a huge part, but not allowing the less talented teams to get in the faces of people, get physical makes it easy for the better teams. You just know now you can’t so much as breath near a top 6 player without giving away a pen and you can’t bombard teams with long Aerial balls and challenge them. It’s just dead and will never be as passionate and entertaining and unpredictable as the 90s.

Need a few brave referees that will allow more physical play otherwise it will become a game for balljugglers not footballers. Some women's football is more aggressive than men's these days. Continental refs. seem to be more inclined to ignore the fakery and let the game flow.

So is the Premier League. Sure, our title was fantastic but it was an anomaly. The PL is becoming just as boring as those. In the last three seasons, the league winners have finished on 100, 97 and 99 points. That's not competitive.

It's a myth that smaller clubs can't win a game against Barcelona and Real Madrid. How boring is it when you see that Man City are 5-0 up at home to Burnley/Brighton every year?

Also if the Premier League is so great, why does it never attract world stars at their prime?

Like I say, biased perception again, if that very thing happened in La Liga it would get slated but because it's in England it doesn't apply. I think that's what gets my back up a bit.

Man City & Liverpool are further clear of the others in this league than Real Madrid & Barcelona are of theirs, right now.

The martial peno in the quarter final against Martial did my head in, had a bit of contact on his shoulder and his let’s collapse! I think it was McManaman covering the game and made me more angry when saying it’s was a defo pen!

Players should not fall over when they get a tiny bit of contact, it’s cheating but likewise referees need to know when to give a foul to players who try and stay in their feet but are clearly being impeded!

Prem for me has awful refs just because of how inconsistent they are. It grinds my gears it does!

If there is/are options/ choices :-

1)...any top International game...

2) Any Top Leagues Middle to Bottom Team playing each other...

would you Feel you would Enjoy and prefer more....Then The question is Simply answered...

Living in Germany....being able to Watch also both Spanish,Dutch & Italian football...

I would for (2) still prefer to Watch Premier Middle of the table P.league games..! 2nd German football.!

International games....probably Germany vs either Italy,Holland,or Spain,or One Another more than any England game...

If England got to quarter-finals...Then always England no exception..!!

If a question of Top 4 league matches, depends which teams and my feeling at the time ,I have no Preferences unless L.city would be involved.
