This sounds a good initiative. I have been better in all honesty. I am dreading the winter already - it’s normally a struggle for me at the best of times as I just want to hibernate and do nothing, but it’s going to obviously be a more challenging year this year. Are you doing better now @Aus Fox?

Good thread. It's good to get people talking, even if it's anonymously or on a public platform. You never know when it could help but it's always good to know there is someone there to listen to you.

I'm not sure if it's linked in to what Australia do with this R U OK day, but there's national suicide prevention day in UK...

It's even more prevalent for male suicide rates which are obscenely high. Men don't usually talk and there is (and needs to be continuously so) concerted efforts to get men to talk about their feelings and emotions. Gone are the days where things should be bottled up.

With that being said, if anyone needs to talk - send me a PM or reach out to someone :)

I'd hazard a guess and say that most UK football team forums don't have a dedicated thread for people to share their problems with no judgement that has a multitude of posts from a multitude of posters.

I'm glad that FT takes mental health issues seriously by offering that in the way it does and the sterling work done by many of the posters there.

Something I’ve always struggled with to be honest, not the best at opening up, but over the last couple of years I’ve begin to recognise the need to be honest and be okay with saying I’m not okay at times.

Ok. It's just my lad i feel for. He's feeling fine , but his school won't let him back in without a test done. I think he's more fed up he's missed football today rather than covid.

Constant days of working at Christmas levels for the last six months, with Christmas starting to rear it's ugly head (which I think was a song by Living Colour) and the company I'm working for claiming to be losing £1m a day (no idea how, considering how hard we've worked the last six months), so they're looking to cut jobs, has me exasperated and a little down, but there's many worse off than me (no job, lost loved one, long term illness), so I shouldn't complain too much.

Keep on keeping on! :D

Precautionary or due to symptoms? Hope it turns out ok.

Edit: I jumped in before seeing @ausfox's reply.

I look at society now compared to 20 years ago and I'm delighted with the progress we've made with mental health and men especially.

When I was really ill back in '04 I was a classic alpha male who bottled it all up and told nobody about my struggles. Back then I was convinced this would have been a sign of weakness where as today I see it as a strength and expectations definitely have changed for the better.

Just wish I was more open back then like I am now and maybe I wouldn't have been so stressed and depressed ;)

Just to say as well, I think there's always the worry that if you open up and make yourself vulnerable that people will look down on you and it might damage relationships. I can honestly say that the strongest friendships I have are with people who have been prepared to open up and have those proper deep conversations about how they are doing.

Hello Fellow FoxesTalkers,

Today In Australia its R U OK Day, not sure if this is a global thing or just an Australian thing.
I know we have had similar threads before, but I thought I’d take the opportunity to say, From one Fox to another, are you okay? Happy to chat with anyone if you’re not, either in this thread or a private message.

I found out the hard way, you don’t always have to be okay, and when someone asks it’s okay to say, actually I’m not. Especially at this time with the world feeling a little crazy and us all at various stages oh lockdowns - so R U OK?

Depends, have we signed anyone?
