Sydney Sweeney discourse is weird. Seems like for a lot of the left in the US she represents some kind of dark forces dragging women's rights back to the 1950s; conservatives talk about her like she's a return to classic Hollywood ideals of beauty, when she's a slightly weird, cross-eyed looking woman with great norks. Just be normal!

And she's happily playing both sides and making bank and notoriety from both. Good for her.

In any case, she's hardly needed as a lodestone pulling women's rights in the US back 70 years, there's more than enough going on with others there demonstrating the attempts at that.

She’s also been marketing her own lingerie brand that I’m equally appalled by. I have to keep a close eye on such things to continue engaging in this discourse and being well informed.

I’ve been consuming a lot of 9/11 content the last few days (cheerful I know) and it’s got me wondering. What would’ve been a better response from the US? Could there have been a world where it doesn’t end in the deaths of so many more?

Probably not possible to answer that.

There was never going to be a different response IMO. It was always going to be "five hundred of yours dead for every one of ours" retribution - which pretty much came to pass.

The only way that could have been prevented is if the US had gone at least some way to addressing the geopolitical concerns that resulted in it before it happened.

Israel very much using the same mould.

Thoroughly enjoying Ed Sheeran getting some aggro this week

Zionists are their own worst enemy. I am sure Gilette Stadium has hosted some music acts that promote or sing about all sorts of awful shit, or sport stars that have commited all sorts of crimes. The owner of the stadium himself is incredibly dodgy. But someone supports Palestinian freedom is barred and accused of hate speech. It's hilarious, they're so stupid.

Indeed, that fence he's sitting on must be getting quite uncomfortable...

One wonders what Robert Kraft bribed and/or blackmailed him with in order to drop Macklemore or not call off the tour entirely.

Celebrity culture is so odd isn’t it.

Palestinian children being blown up, families torn apart by a demonic blood thirsty government but wait!!! Let’s hear from the celebrities on where they stand and why they’re so great for doing so

Proud visitor to Epstein Island at the height of its "glory", if the Internet is to be believed.

Sheeran didn't drop anyone, he is not the promoter, not his job.  The promoter has obviously been told by at least 2 venues no Macklemore, the other supports acts quit, and Ed is left without a tour.

You would have thought that Sheeran would have some input on that particular process, though.

In any case, agree with the general thrust of the post here. The venue owners (led by Kraft) are clearly engaged in either bribery or blackmail.

They appear to be pro-Israel at any cost like a lot of wealthier Americans.  Ultimately, it is their stadium their rules, and I expect they have contract clauses which let them do it in the event of behaviour deemed unacceptable.  Liklewise the musicians have the right to withdraw their labour as it were, but I feel for those workers who now won't get paid.  Seems like Sheeran is the only one mentioning that.

What was the unacceptable behaviour from Macklemore in this instance?

What would have added to him mentioning it would have been covering the costs and taking the hit of calling off the tour - I'm sure he could have afforded that.

But Sheeran himself shouldn't be judged on this too harshly - it's the ones like Kraft that are, as you say, pro their cause at any cost, that are the real problem.

I think the chatter is incorrect

Kraft was prosecuted for solicitation in Florida in 2019 and was defended by epstein’s lawyer.  there is nothing so far in the released files that indicates the two of them met.   The chatter on the net is likely part of a general anti semitic conspiracy whereby all Jewish people are  child sex abusers and Epstein is linked to anyone famous to prove the point.

Macklemore is a bit tricky for me. Whilst he apologised for his ‘Jew face’ costume in 2014, the fact he thought it ok to do it at all reveals someone who may not be as well balanced as he claims.

Fair enough - though that his legal eagle was able to get key video evidence deemed inadmissible in the case mentioned here rather stinks of being guilty but having a good enough lawyer to get by with it.

Certainly no disagreement that the conspiracy theories exist.

Putting that above aside, Kraft is clearly a person who uses his power and influence to get what he wants and evidently has no problem with and likely encourages the...questionable behaviour by the Israeli forces in the ME right now.

Making political statements at a pop concert which (at best) don’t align with the views of the stadium owner.

Surprises me that knowing the background of the performer and ownership of various stadia on the tour,  the promoter hadn’t inserted clauses into macklemore’s contract which specifically referenced this possibility.  perhaps he’d have refused to accept but at least this mess would have been avoided.   As soon as the hooha happened at the early concerts in New Jersey/New York, I read someone saying ‘good luck to Macklemore trying that in kraft’s stadium’.  It should have been dealt with before the tour had begun,  I mean you wouldn’t have kneecap or bob Vylan as a support artist on a US tour for this very reason.  Macklemore’s strong political views are not a secret.

Kraft was clearly guilty of using prostitutes.  But as with a lot of wealthy people, he found a way to avoid a guilty verdict.

His quotes on Macklemore are a bit more nuanced
