The Darwin awards have been around on the internet since the turn of the century at least but now there's a gun related Youtube channel and boy, it is full of candidates.

Finally found The Wolfen novel on Youtube in audiobook strangely in the voice of Roddy McDowall

The first part has a slight break in it but otherwise, really well done.

I've been receiving notifications on YouTube recently for some short videos called Now and Then.

They are usually a series of photographs from the second world war, compared with the same scene today.

Unsurprisingly, the war pictures often show bomb damaged buildings and, sometimes, bodies.

One scene couldn't have been more worlds apart. The original showed a cobbled street with a dead soldier lying across a pavement. The 'Now' picture showed the exact same buildings and cobbled road, which is now a busy shopping street with dozens of folk going about their daily and peaceful everyday lives, walking over the exact same spot where that particular  warrior had died.

That soldier was somebodies son, brother, perhaps a father himself. No memorial of course marking the place he died, there were far too many for that to be possible.

I found it quite powerful.

There's a ton of really poor drivers around these days and that's not including the uber eats cyclists mostly on electric bikes so this video should surprise no one but the commentary at times is funny.

At 4:14, that’s clearly the trucks fault for pulling out on a roundabout without looking right, the Golf has clear right of way. Dunno why the commentator has a go at someone for going on a roundabout as intended and the car can’t just emergency stop on a roundabout, could cause a cascade of accidents, swerving round the truck is the safest thing to do in that situation.

I watch this guy who does Stealth Camping, which is in and around urban areas where the public might be. He's from Sunderland but he's quite funny and has lots of little silly phrases and sayings. Very working class bloke but quite entertaining, especially when he has his little friend Mick out with him.

Anyone old enough to remember ‘In bed with my dinner’ and a famous tv documentary of the early 90’s might find this interesting.  Its a long podcast, but the first 20 mins in particular are quite powerful.

I like his GeoWizard stuff more where he finds where user submitted photos have been taken from.

He's not even that good a GeoGuessr player either. Not compared to people like Rainbolt, Zi8gZag etc who do it professionally.

I only discovered him a few days ago but spent the last two evenings hooked on his vids.

Yeah, I saw this one where some blokes Dad was on a motorbike 50 years ago and he found the exact same spot. Clever stuff.

His straight line videos are well worth a watch too.

I don't always read other folks comments to videos on YouTube itself but when I do, there seems to be liberal sprinkling of comments such as, 'Whose here in Dec 2024?'

Nothing else, just that.

Whats the purpose? I guess it's people just desperate for some 'Thumbs up' and comments?

I don't think it's any different to people on here making pointless one line posts in threads.

Lots of folk who comment on YT video's are subscribers/fans of that channel and it's becomes its own small 'community' just like FoxesTalk

Maybe they are desperate for 'Thumbs' up but that's also no different to here, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit etc. I suppose.

The interweb is a strange place.
