To be honest Radio is faster than TV.. might have something to do with it 🤷‍♂️

Interested to know how betting in-play is done now too. Its always infront of Sky/BT and practically in line with Radio comentary. Are RunningBallers allowed in Stadiums 🧐🤔

Thought plenty of people who do the live updates do it remotely anyway. Probably just mean more suspensions and a longer wait until the bet is accepted.

I hate it when Stringer says  (names opposition player) has never scored against Leicester or (opposition player) has not scored in x amount of games and looks unlikely to now.

Then what happens?

You've guessed opposition player duly scores!

The times the commentators seem to curse us with comments like this. :@

STOP IT! :please:

Not sure what the exact rules are in the BBC but it seemed away local stations were stopped from travelling to tier 4 areas.

As mentioned, RL did the Palace comms from Leicester. (As they did for UEL matches, quite understandably).

I was at Norwich on Tuesday (a tier 4 area) and BBC London (also a tier 4 area) didn't travel to do comms - yet BBC 5 Live sent a reporter who lives in London to report on the game.

Just seems to be local radio the ones affected.

From a talkSPORT perspective, we're allowed to travel anywhere for work purposes. (I'm back at Norwich this weekend).

Reporting / doing commentary from somewhere else (ie not in the ground) isn't a new thing. It's called 'off tube' in the business.

In the mid 2000s I used to fly out to Switzerland where we'd commentate on Champions League games from small booths at UEFA HQ in Nyon.

(After a couple of years they decided it made more financial sense to do it from studios in London).

The BBC will usually say if they're doing a game not from the stadium but they don't have to, nobody really cares.

Of course it's better to be in grounds as you get a full flavour of what's going on but certainly at the moment it's understandable why some don't.

It sounds like it is a BBC decision for local radio which is sensible. National stations will not have commentators in all areas but hopefully they will cut down the travelling as much as possible.

Was there any particular reason you stopped appearing on the football forum?

They've haven't asked me since we got promoted in 2014. Simple as that really.

Stringer being such a conceited tw@t wouldn't want a genuine and informed pundit stealing the limelight from him.

It’s amuses me hearing how the youngster OPA has adopted many of the same verbal ticks and behaviours that JBourne had when he was Stringers sidekick.

It's like there's a Stringer clone lab somewhere

OPA sounds way more like Ian than Jason ever did.

(That's purely my opinion, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls...)

Why does Stringer always insist on us telling the nationality of non-English players?

Mahrez - a great goal by the Algerian

Definitely, he’s a proper stringer wannabe.

Stringer likes to call him Patrick

Think the radio Leicster commentary team gets a bit of unnecessary stick. Why so much hate for Stringer? Tbh quite enjoy the post match and football forum stuff as additional LCFC content after watching the match on TV.

Hating on Stringer may well be justified, but it is a bit of a waste of energy if you spend too much time on it. Piper generally speaks a lot of sense, and because RL is sometimes the best way for me to follow the game, I really appreciate the service.

I just wish they wouldn't put it on medium wave at points, now that is proper annoying, it's caught me out no end of times over the years.

People just need to appreciate that it’s local radio and as such, you’re not getting a top level commentator / and it’ll likely be someone learning the trade.

Digging Stringer and his co-commentators put for not being great, is like watching Quorn FC and complaining as they don’t have a player that is as good as Youri Tielemans.

Anyway, rant over .... who wants to hear about my sandwich that I’ve just made?

They put it on medium wave? Never knew that.. I use internet radio for it now unless I'm driving.

I've just remembered it's not FM and MW anymore, it's DAB and FM these days. As I only have DAB radio at work, when the rugby is on DAB and I have to work I'm screwed.

It happens maybe once a season (maybe even less), but it drives me nuts because I hate rugby, so I never think to look when it is on.

Didn't think RL had used medium wave for years.

Christ, I think the confinement has finally done me. It's DAB and FM now, but just like the old days with mw, I sometimes have the wrong radio at the wrong time.

Hopefully rugby will be banned and we can simplify things going forward.

Some mobile phones still have fm radio if you plug earphones in ( then you can put on loudspeaker) you could try that with yours.
