I do understand why people are going in at the state of the wicket but surely the weather has played a massive part?

I mean it could have been an absolute road but with dark clouds, humidity and rain hanging around then surely wickets were likely to tumble at a serious rate?

I prefer games where bowlers are slightly on top but some of the uneven bounce was impossible for anyone to deal with.

There was a stat on TMS earlier about the one Bethell got being the lowest bounce of any wicket-taking ball in a Test in England since ball tracking records began.

It's a good competition, but not necessarily a good test match. The pitch isn't ideal to say the least. I also tend towards bowlers, but that ball to Bethell was a big bowl of wrong. The groundsman would have felt like shit after that.

This is where cricket on fast forward is a benefit, it would have to chuck it down for 3 days for their not to be a result.

Going to my first test match at headingly in August, praying its not a day like this one.

Well least the ECB will get a 4th day but presumably will have to pay out for today due to the lack of cricket .

Indeed. It’s covered by insurance, but the insurance premium rises if there are lots of rain days

If a northern ground produced a Test match wicket like that they’d be getting their hosting rights stripped.

Lord’s for all its history and grandeur has produced some shocking wickets in recent years.

Not over this but just need a few unplayable balls.

Because of the night watchmen already gone the last 4 wickets are a little bit harder.

No panic just yet but if these two are there at lunch.

Pretty decent win in the end.

Contributions of Brook in the first innings and Gay in the second being the critical difference imo.

Wins a win. Bowlers very good in friendly conditions. Luckily the weather has dragged it out to a 4th day because it would've probably been done in 2 full days again.

Good for confidence moving forward but its a isolated test match given the surface and conditions and it'll be interesting to see what happens next time.
