....just looking at our squad, our second team is very strong when all the injured are back!!!

We will be very strong so long as we sort out these injuries.

If we win games, who says the injured returnees, deserve to comeback...

I like Mendy and how he plays but I'm not sure why we kept him given that we signed Soumare and have KDH in the squad.

We could have used the money to help towards a new RW. especially also as Brendan has said he prefers to have just 22 players in the squad.

I know Brendan said that 22 player thing, but that was in his first year. Given the experience of the past two years, with injuries, fixture congestion, and the squad just running out of steam, I wouldn't be surprised if he reassessed his position on squad size. One thing we are light on right now are Fuchs-type squad players -- older, good in training, not expecting to play very often, but will put in a shift if required. I guess Albrighton sort of fits the description, but no one else (although Evans might be there soon.)

Yes I know what you mean, but those type of players are hard to come by, Dawson is another who I thought we'd buy before he went to WH.

On the other hand we have added some very exciting young players to the squad, But you still need a few old heads with the experience around the place. Currently we have Evans, Vardy and Albrighton and I think Morgan is still around the place though not a player any more.

Man.City, Man.Utd, Liverpool and even Chelsea have many very experienced players with hundreds of games at the very top level. As you say we are not in that position. It remains to be seen whether our comparative youth will be an advantage.

What money is this?

If we got rid of Mendy, it would be on a free.

We can't raise fees from players that aren't wanted.

That's true but I doubt it applies in Mendy's case. His Stats were up there with Kante in the French leagues, I'm sure some of them would have been interested if he wanted out.

Then again Salary may be an issue.

....there needed to have been enquiries for him to have sold him in this window!!!

This recent "window" has been strange, and the water carriers have been relegated and replaced by bargains on quality players and of course the big purchases for the big players.

Maybe next summer we will return to the usual "trading" in regards to moving players on.

We sold three players only, Sowah and Knight who were on low contracts and Ghezzal , who was on a high contract and tying that deal up was like pulling teeth ..Any of our squad players on more than 40 grand a week, like Mendy, are going to be difficult to sell. and I can see them running their contracts down. All this makes it more likely that star players like Youri will be sold to raise funds.

We can't get rid of Choudhury, not sure how we're gonna get rid of a guy who is getting paid more and isn't homegrown.

A couple of Turkish clubs are after a midfielder and have tried to sign Elneny from Arsenal on a loan. Wouldn't be a surprise if one of them comes in for Mendy, if the club were looking to shift him out. Will we even be able to register Mendy in the PL squad if Rodgers includes Benkovic? Remember seeing a post saying it would be down to these two for the last spot in the squad?

The club will be happy to get this wages off the books if he's not in the plans anymore.

So who's going to pay those wages then?

You?

There's always deals to be done. that's the nature of it. Maybe clubs are saving their money as no one know what's coming next with Covid.

Shame...better than Hamza

Hamza is home grown though.

Need to get both out next summer anyway, get a proper backup/challenger to Wilf.

Would love us to go in for Boubacar Kamara in Jan.

....has a tendency to go to ground, in or outside the box...!!!

Seems to be off balance in challenges and we just do not need another impulsive player who we have to look to curb their enthusiasm. I suspect Tarkowski will be coming in next season and we need a dour no nonsense safety first option than another impetuous  decision maker infront of our backline.

Tarkowski is a CB....Kamara is more of a CDM who can play CB.

Tarkowski next summer, would be a waste of £15 million then, that we've just spent on Vestegaard.

Vesegaard is saleable

also depends on how much game time evans can manage

and cags could be off at some point if he can recover his form !

...it is unfortunate but we will have to bring in another experienced  CB!!!

Evans will only last for so long in the role, his condition is not going to go away and Vestergaard appears to be susceptible to injuries. Caglar is going through a bad phase in his play and Fofana might not come back to his best for a while. At this moment Amartey is looking like the only consistent member in the position.
