Tarkowski next summer, would be a waste of £15 million then, that we've just spent on Vestegaard.

Never a waste to have experienced PL quality players - especially given Evans is looking iffy long-term, Fofana is crocked, Söyüncü  is experiencing some crisis of confidence and Vestergaard is already injured. Amartey isn't at a level City need as a first choice starter. I'd suggest five players are the minimum to cover three slots.

Not a bad idea for the Turkish transfer window to end later than the rest of Europe. All these players/clubs who didn't get the moves they wanted have no where else to go now. Turkish clubs can dictate terms now.

And don't they just love it. Turkish clubs entire business model is based on picking up high profile players who have fallen out of favour and they'll try and barely pay anything for them.

...it is unfortunate but we will have to bring in another experienced  CB!!!

Evans will only last for so long in the role, his condition is not going to go away and Vestergaard appears to be susceptible to injuries. Caglar is going through a bad phase in his play and Fofana might not come back to his best for a while. At this moment Amartey is looking like the only consistent member in the position.

I agree about Tarkowski, I wanted him if we could've got him this transfer window, but like the transfer window before when we were interested in him back then i thought that if we left it 2 transfer windows then the age comes into play.

I do think Cags will go, perhaps next summer so getting Tarwkowski on a free with a minimal contract and signing on fee might not be a bad idea.

As for mendy I don't agree with comments on here the Soumare is likely to dislodge him as a backup DM and if Choudhury had have left then numbers wise it would be ideal for outer DM's.

I like the idea of building relationships with the Turkish giants though. Hopefully negotiations with Besiktas and Galatasaray have gone well enough (regarding Ghezzal and Mendy) that if it comes to buying players from them, we'll have a firm grounding from which to work from.

Although the national team weren't much cop in the Euros, we know that Turkey is a fertile ground for talent, it could be worth keeping a close eye for any wonderkids in their ranks.

Anyone know if Choudhury fancies a short loan to Fenerbahce?

Sounds like Galatasaray are trying to sign both the defensive mid above and Mendy, trying to find a way to get Mendy to Turkey before the deadline

"N. Mendy who is at Senegal. The club and its agents try to find him a jet to join the before tonight."

They tried to sign Elneny this week as well but Arsenal rejected the bid

Nampalys Mendy move to Galatasaray falls through

Foot Mercato report this afternoon that midfielder Nampalys Mendy’s loan move to Galatasaray from Leicester has fallen through, having been unable to reach Istanbul in time before the end of the Turkish summer transfer window.

Mendy was on international duty with Senegal this week, and along with his agent and the two clubs was looking for a way to fly out in time after an agreement was reached between all of the parties.

The former Monaco and Nice man had attempted to reach Istanbul via Congo first, then Dakar, but ultimately his efforts were in vain – the 29-year-old will instead remain in the Premier League for the season to come.

Bit odd, I pretty sure they could have done the deal remotely and done the medical elsewhere

Mendy is still in Dakar so sounds like it is an issue even getting him out of Senegal

Looking at windows that are still open -- if he really wants playing time, and we want to recoup some salary, the only real option is Saudi Arabia, which is open for another ten days. I guess there is also Mexico and Argentina, but I am not sure his ankles could survive it.

Not the best of planning by he's agent, I wonder when we said we were willing to let him go on loan.

Quite funny in some ways. Mahrez at Paris Airport, Silva signing 14 seconds late and Mendy doing the Dakar rally of air travel!

Still, I would've thought Senegal would've let him leave early to get the deal done.

Dunno but Tanner mentioned there was interest for him towards the end of the Main Window. Galatasaray were trying to sign Elneny from Arsenal but the deal fell through yesterday, so might've only came in for Mendy after that.

A bit ridiculous. Went to Senegal, didn’t play a minute or even make a squad and he’s missed half a season of football because of it.

That one has to hurt

...didn't they bring in some players yesterday to bolster their midfield!!!

It all sounds very strange to me and I would be reluctant to do any deals with any Turkish clubs, there is always some thing else going on in the background that is contrary to what they claim to be doing.

In hindsight it was never going to happen if deal was only negotiated yesterday and they had to get last minute flights to Istanbul.

The player's agent Yacine Ayad told Foot Mercato: " With Galatasaray and Leicester, we tried everything to try to get him to Istanbul on Wednesday.

"But the timing was too tight and did not allow us to be able to carry out the medical examination on time. It is fate."

And Ayad had originally said on Tuesday that the player faced a race to get the deal over the line.

“The two clubs are okay and Nampalys also for a loan. But the player must arrive in (Senegalese capital) Dakar in the next few hours," he said.

“It is therefore a race against time which promises to make him arrive in Istanbul before 23:59 tomorrow (Wednesday) evening and the end of the Turkish transfer window.”

I feel for mendy he's actually a pretty good player always done us well when he's come on especially when he's had a decent run.

Agree with this. Mendy has been good and sometimes very good when he's had a run.  I will be disappointed to see him leave.
