I know this is an odd observation but when daka was made to play rm, we got a throw in and I was thinking ... I bet he’s never taken one before lol he actually had a decent throw on him, but he did send it back to a cb.

We must be the worst team in the league for losing possession from throw ins.

How do you know, unless you have a stat.

I'm sure you watch a lot of football, but there has 150 PL games no way you have seen them all to know who's the worse?

Myth alert....

That was just a perception and is not that relevant to the point i was making in that we are so poor at them. But I do see other teams and my perception is that I haven't seen anyone worse.

A bit of a daft point here....

Do the City players actually know that you can't be off-side from a throw in? I have NEVER seen Leicester take advantage of this (other teams do).

Not daft at all. One of the problems with our throw-ins (throws-in?) is that the opposition has one more player on the pitch at that moment!

Nobody bothers moving when we've got a throw in. It's so frustrating.

...this has been brought up before and a very good article regarding Klopp's quest to understand why and how to remedy it!!!

I can't recall who posted it on the forum but this would have been about a year ago.

The simple part would be "ball to feet", instant control, lay off, either to person taking throw in or a colleague nearby. Delivering chest high or knee height means the person receiving the ball requires a few touches and is easily closed down.

I will try to find the details again if I can, it was a very interesting read.

It has always been a pet peeve for me, and I  do not understand how managers or coaches allow it to happen.

I share his frustration, always been something I've noticed and I've always thought we were bad but that was covered up by the fact that we didn't have many players who could quickly control the ball and we tended lo the ball forward as far we could hoping to get a head on it.

But now e have better players we should be doing better, another irritant  which has been mentioned is waiting for the fullback to take it and then losing it. There's no reason why we shouldn't be looking at quick throw-ins the same way we look at quick free kicks.

Whilst we're on kicks I think the obsession by refs and players to spend time setting up free kicks should be a choice. If a team wants to take one quickly they should be allowed, it will be up to the opposition to make sure they  legal distance away if they mess it up so be it.

This does my nut all the time. A forward or centre back will pick it up and there's an obvious quick throw on to someone unmarked but they'll wait and give it to the full back.

In all phases of play we're ridiculous for slowing up and letting the opposition reset.

Yes. They have obviously been 'coached' to do this. BR pattern more important than a quick throw in, or quick corner. Drives me mad every time Matters saunters over to take a corner, when we are desperate for a goal.
