No conductor headphones don’t have the best sound quality tbf, I tend to listen to podcasts rather than music when out on a run as a result.

Which watch did you get?

I got the Forerunner 165 music. Like I say it's my first one so I didn't want to go balls deep without really knowing what features I'd use and not use. All I wanted was GPS, heart rate data and music and that was the base model that ticked those boxes.

Nice, I did the opposite and really could have easily had that model for what I’ve used it for.

Looking back at this year, pleased to have done a few 10Ks and managed my first half marathon.

What races have people got planned for next year?

Belvoir Challenge and Naseby 1645 - was in for Ashby 20 but have given my place up.

My 2 biggies are London to Brighton Cycle in June then Race To The Stones in July - only 50K though not the full 100 as I’ve lost a lot of fitness after little to no running these last 3 months.

Have you got anything planned?

Got my first Garmin watch for Christmas. Any tips/tricks that I should try out?

Also got a pair of conductor headphones which are cool but the sound quality is patchy, any pointers there as well?

Which bone conductors has you got? I’ve got the Shokz OpenRun and love them! The sound quality is spot on for me. I’ve tried another brand and the quality was no where near as good.

If they are shokz, contact their customer services as they may be faulty.

Yeah they're the same as I got. I think it's just getting used to them tbf, by the end of my first go with them I was getting more used to the sound

Entered the Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon earlier today. Anyone had a crack at it?

Completely lost the love for running last couple of months, after half marathon in October just hate the thought of going out for a run. New year tomorrow so going to try and get back in the habit again

In the full knowledge I'd be good for nothing today I did my longest run for at least 3 years if my Garmin is to be believed: 8.3 miles.

Very slow, but actually felt alright. Just as well as remembered I'm signed up for the Leicester Big 10k in April so I need to be doing SOMETHING

Did a light 10km with my brother earlier before setting off for Sheffield. Legs so tired even though I rested yesterday, the toll of December is starting to show on my legs I think.

Anyone doing the Leicester 10km at the start of March? I'm considering it but the weather puts me off at bit as it could still be a bit shit by then especially first thing in the morn. Feel like I should do it as I barely know Leicester as a city so least can take in some sights 😂

I won’t be doing it as I’m usually reluctant to pay to run around here but the route looks alright.

Anyone ever done the Monsall Trail half? Was going to sign up as my other half fancies doing one but I’m not sure on the route for that one.

Done it twice. Incredibly easy course- slight incline for part one but then you turn round on yourself. Only issue is you share it with the 10k race and it becomes incredibly congested for the first mile or so - did it once with my 60+ Dad and he face planted because of the congestion.
Obviously very scenic.

That’s good (not your dad face planting), I watched a video and it didn’t look as scenic as I imagined but I’ll take your word for it and try to bully the other half into it.

I won’t be bothered about my time I wouldn’t have thought so don’t mind it being a

bit congested.

I mean there are lots of bits of it where you can’t see anything but there are some very scenic parts on it- it’s worth it for these bits.

I got this back in Sept, pretty pleased with it overall and does everything I need. Only downside is it looses signal with the music I find.

it was better the last time I ran when I synced the playlist again but not 100%. Am actually finding listening to music a bit annoying the more I get into running!

Anyone got any recommendations for trail running shoes?

I have Asics Novablast 5s for my normal running if that offers any help to anyone.

I have some Adidas Terrex which I bought mainly as I knew they'd fit and they've been pretty good

Spoke a bit too soon, my foot is really not happy about my efforts yesterday and is hurting in a new and exciting way, so let's see if that sorts itself or requires a physio session as per bleeding usual

Tissington Half in September is much better.

My December: Had 0 motivation for any running and didn't go on any runs at all.

The wife got me some Asics Novablast 5s for Christmas and I think somehow mentally, the new year has given me some more motivation (and the fact that all my tops are getting tight lol)

1st Jan - 5k in 31 mins - not great but not horrific considering I've not ran for a while.

Going to record every run I do on the notes page on my phone and see if I can try and stick to at least 10 runs a month and see where that takes me.

I’ll have a look at that but I’m looking at something for the first past of the year.

Well done. Download strava though, much better way to record progress.
