This will probably get laughed at, such is the state of modern football/our club but…

If I was him and I gave a shit, I’d be asking the club to set up a clear the air meeting with him and the fan groups. No phones allowed, no recording, just an open conversation between him and them with the aim of getting them to encourage the rest of our fan base to back the players.

He needs to hear how ****ed off people get when he’s cupping his ears to us every week, they need to hear how ****ed off he gets by getting booed every week and see where it goes.

That said, North Korea FC doesn’t knowledge any kind of criticism and does he actually give a shit enough to try to repair the relationship so it clearly won’t happen. But if it did, he’d start to get some respect I recon.

Yes it will get laughed at😂, it's never happened in the history of modern football.

Faes is the new Danny Ward.

Rightly or wrongly, fans have had enough of this group of players and whilst I wouldn’t boo one of ours before kicking a ball, telling other people what to do isn’t my style either.

Hopefully, Faes like a few others leaves before the window shuts as it’s genuinely best for all parties.

Sadly, I can’t see that happening and dread seeing him and Jannik as our starting CB’s for majority of the season.

A player has never spoken to fan groups in modern football?

Faes is like a good few others ... they want to move on and the club want to move them on .... but thanks to Rudkin and Top the exorbitant contracts and wages for average quality prevents this and most will sit it out until the contract ends ... so it's another 10 months before a visable clear out starts to appear

I do think the criticism is over the top sometimes but his reaction is also sort of the reason why he rubs people up the wrong way.

I know I'm in a minority but I don't think his problems are lack of care, he's just mentally lazy and switches off.

Don't blame him for having a go back but I think it would look better for him if he was the bigger man.

If I may slander him for a moment, he has a face that suggests he feels above playing for this club, especially now we are out of the top flight.

But

If you have a vocal portion of the crowd boo'ing you all the time, I have zero issues with his reaction, in fact I take way more offence at fans who cannot stomach his reaction.

Buying a ticket does not buy you a pound of flesh....

All of the fans justifying his behaviour as ‘giving as good as he gets’ seem to forget that it’s him doing sh*t like this which is why he ‘gets’ it in the first place. It’s not the first time he’s cupped his ear to the fans, and, on previous occasions, it was completely unnecessary and just his ego running wild. The guy is an absolute pleb and he adds to a toxic relationship between the club and fans. If he’s too thick to realise that trying to take on 30k fans is a terrible idea then the manager (and his agent!) should really pull him aside and have a word.

People’s views on Vestergaard have changed over the last season or two because he just got his head down and started to steadily improve his football. That is how you handle disgruntled fans. Or you can choose to take no responsibility, throw your toys out of the pram and blame everybody else...

We've been more than patient with both Ward and Faes but their continued shiteness has to be addressed and the fans have every right to let their feelings known about continued perennial under performers

I hope he fully gets the message and it drives him to **** right off

They were clearly “boooos.”

The ‘collective’ opinion on him in here helps identify that.

Followed by a chant of w@nker, which all but confirms it 😂

Not really - people are entrenched, they hate Vestergaard, for any reason, at every opportunity he is derided.

Wout could improve his personna, but it just seems like he is not as thick skinned as Jannik, so not sure its in his armoury.

The new Clean Slate thread is dripping with irony, as it full of people who do not believe they have any part to play in the cleaning of any slates.

Which is quite sad really.

So how many booed him? Tens, hundreds, thousands?

No one knows as some were shouting his name wrong and some were booing.

People around me were shouting "Woooot" which is ridiculous but that's beside the point.

I'd argue the collective opinion of Vestergaard on here is worse than Faes. But we'll leave it there as a difference of opinion based on where you sit in the ground is apparently deluded.

Not in that context

In other countries, fan groups have the players come over and speak to the fans in the stand on the pitch. This has happened hundreds of times over, in a much more confrontational way than I’ve suggested.

The same Vestergaard who brought his dog to training and was bombed out of the squad?

He’s fallen out with how many of our managers now?

I have the same level of disdain for them both.

Sorry I'll bow to your superior knowledge on the topic.

IMO he has nothing to gain from it though, fan groups don't represent the polarised opinions and pure hatred of a forum like ours.

It doesn't matter what he does or says he won't change certain people's opinion.

I'm not sure if booing his goal was done in jest, but who in their right mind boos a player when he scores the winner?

These are all professionals players and to suggest they deliberately **** up and don't try is ridiculous. They're are many aspects and reasons why they don't perform.

He had Soumare playing in front of him most of last year, so he's going to make mistakes.

Soumare isn't deliberately lazy either, Ruud got more out of him last year than most of our managers, but his game just doesn't suit our football, he switches off,  the pace of the British game is just too fast for him.

Successful organisation don't have a blame culture.

We just need to move on from this negativity and hating players and move forward as a club and get behind Cifuentes.

Now you can laugh at that if you want😂

No laughing here, happy to have a civilised debate.

Your penultimate point is what led me to that thought, how do you move away from the perpetual circle we currently have of Wout getting booed, then cupping his ears because of the boos, to them get booed again lol.

On the point re it not being the fan groups booing, I agree completely however having the fan groups on board means there can be a collective group of people saying draw a line under it and let’s all work together to get the club out of this mountain of shit we find ourselves in.

The other option is to sell him whatever the cost, and in my opinion he is a very good option in defence for the way we play right now plus you lose money etc etc.

Sort of semi-irrational but I like him. I'd rather a player give a bit of shit back after being booed on than meekly disappear into their shell.
