Popular Post Fox-LMA Posted 11 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 11 August 2025 (edited) I appreciate that he was cr*p last season, & that as fans we always have a right to express ourselves. But I'm starting to feel sorry for him. I saw him walk off the field (I sit in B3) & he looked dejected & personally affected. He should not feel that way after scoring a winner. I think that we need to give it a rest. We've made our point... Edited 11 August 2025 by Fox-LMA 7

Last year we had shocking season, it was the fault of everyone in the club, its hard to portion blame to one player more than any other. It would be nice to move them all on, but unfortunately they didn't do a very good job of selling themselves well last year. Its not a case of blaming him but he’s consistently performed poorly during his time here and if we had a different ownership he would have been sold a long time ago. 2 minutes ago, GorlestonFox said: Does being in arguably one of the most successful championship teams not count for anything no? What the season we nearly messed it up and he was constantly getting done by Championship strikers who let themselves down by poor finishing?

He didn't improve us - but relegation was not his fault. The rot had set in. For 2 PL seasons teams have been able to cut through our midfield like butter and defenders are under the cosh, and even now our midfield looks like a girl guides 2nd 11 could bully it. We bought him on the cheap, and he plays like a player who cost as much as we paid. Just for reference we were rock bottom and brought Huth for less, from a worse team, on the older side of his career after a bad injury and on less money and he did far more for the club than this waster ever has.
dayday Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 If he was that good somebody would of snapped him by now

ealingfox Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Are we 100% sure the booing wasn't the usual 'Wooout'? 1 1

I’ll be honest with you.. it’s an absolute killer move from Cifuentes. Acknowledging our unhappiness and that there were issues, being sympathetic to Wout and what he went through, and showing an appreciation for his performance and yet managing to find a bridge of peace between him and the fans. It’s an absolutely brilliant piece of management. Edited 11 August 2025 by MPH 9 1 1
MC Prussian Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 25 decent minutes don't make an entire season yet. Last campaign, he was one of the main culprits, with atrocious defending, awful positioning, and getting caught up front, allowing easy counters. I do hope he's learnt from his mistakes. Still, I wish he does put in some more great efforts, so we can sell him for a good price before the transfer window closes. 1

Pathetic fanbase. I think football culture overall needs to get out of this reactive ‘heaven and hell’ rating of players performances. And it should be noted “Boooing” the players you dislike creates the sort of atmosphere that makes the players you do actually like think twice about whether they want to continue playing for the club. 5

What on earth does that have to do with Wout being ‘the worst CB ever’?

Fair comment, but I meant for saying he's the worst defender we've ever had due to 2 relegations, yet ignoring a promotion 2
GorlestonFox Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 This thread is making me mad Anyone that boo's their own player on the opening day of the season is wrong. Anyone that says he's the worst CB we've ever had is wrong. 4

No I didn’t. Even if I had, your example still has no relevance to your statement that he is our ‘worst CB ever’
em9999 Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 I pay money to go to games and whilst I'm in stadium I'm not seeking anyones permission to chant whatev3r I want Thanks for your concerns in this matter through 1

Okay so name me a centre back whos worse that spent 3 seasons in the starting line up? I’ll wait.

Skid_1884 Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 It’s not his fault that he’s stuck here or that he gets picked but we have had 4 managers in the time he has probably wanted to leave the club. Its understandable if a new manager wants to give him a chance but as fans most of these players have had more than enough chances and clean slates.

How far back is too far? Lol Amartey was never consistently in the line up or consistently a CB. Benalouane was back up. Kisnorbo was used as a CB or a CM and he was better at CB but thats not a bad example. Still pound for pound Faes is worse.

My argument is simply he’s not the worst CB we’ve ever had. Now you’ve changed the argument to a niche ‘three season’ caveat. Why not just add in with big curly hair and from Belgium to your qualifying criteria? 3
adejo92 Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Would happy him start for us this season, and give him full support, but don't want him anywhere near the club should we ever return to a competitive league. 1
