They were completely silent after we equalised until they took the lead again.

As someone else says above, the on pitch action largely determines the atmosphere

Fair enough but even at the start of the game our fans just didn’t seem up for it on the whole. Where we sit in SK4, the only thing that seems to elicit any kind of passion or reaction from fans is a bad refereeing performance.

Agree with others that our song book is really thin at the moment. We don’t even have a chant for most of the first XI, for example.

All that said, we can be decent away, like at Southampton last week, but at home matches the lack of atmosphere is a major issue, even when we’re winning and playing well.

People can’t be bothered on a Friday night for Forest at home I dread to think what it’ll be like for Chelsea, a 12.30, followed by two Sunday 2pm kick offs.

But we've got fan cam down the bowl

Atmosphere always relies on the players turning up. Always has and always will.

I think that is a part of it but only a part.  Ive lost count the number of times players face our supporters and throw their hands up in a gesture to increase the noise.  I totally believe that if you are getting paid silly money for people who often can barely afford it to watch, then you should give your all but its human nature to give a bit more when you can hear 1000s ......ok, even just hundreds getting behind you.  I think we all have a part to play.  Besides, its not the theatre.....i dont go football to sit down with overpriced snacks and water and say "ok...entertain me".

Can't imagine another club that would have a worse atmosphere than we had for a 'derby game' on a Friday night.

I think last nights a reminder of how bad our support is.

Of course just a couple of seasons ago the same fixture produced a pretty good atmosphere, which does show we have (like many other english clubs) a 'sing when you're winning' mentality.

The only way to change things is for the team to always win...good luck with that.

Yh but also for the team to not win so much that it gets too easy cuz then our fans will leave on 80 minutes for “being bored”. There is no winning only way we get a good atmosphere is winning games we aren’t expected to win, getting a comeback from 2 goals down or us playing exciting football. If not we get the same shit atmosphere we have had now for years

It’s not about always winning but it is about the players showing enough conviction to the cause. Last night it looked like the team didn’t believe they could get back into the game and that doesn’t exactly spark a good atmosphere in the crowd. Nothing was created in the second half whereas Forest could’ve had 5 or 6. Those that could happily sing and cheer through that must’ve been on at least their 6th pint of the night.

The crux of the home atmosphere issue comes down to the layout, and that's been the case for over 20 years now. Of course, the acoustics also play a part. The club introduced the SK1 section in 2022 which hasn't solved the ongoing debate, mainly due to its size and in my view, location. Ultimately, there needs to be a significant relocation of fans to at least provide the best possible setup for the atmosphere, and it's common knowledge the amount of other clubs who have done this. Hopefully with the new fan engagement framework this can be achieved but if it was to happen, there would surely need to be a consultation so that the fanbase can finally find some common ground. On Forest, it was apparent to me way before now the differences between the two fanbases. The key one being the level of pride they take in their own support, and our fans just don't seem to share the same mentality.

The song book is dreadful and thin these days.

There was way too much reliance last season on the promotion and pretty much nothing new has come this year. Even for Fatawu they're singing "straight back up" ffs.

Seen a few posts saying that we need a few years in the wilderness to get things better. I used to think this but I don't agree. That's how you become Stoke. You need a club and fans committed to improving it. We have neither and I think it's a vicious cycle - we have this fanbase because it's what the club want. It's not going to change without drastic changes at the club.

Yeah for it to become like what fans want with the be in the championship for a few years idea, it would have to be we do a cov go down to league 2 get close to bankruptcy lose all fans and restart again as the club rebuilds.

And Coventry's atmosphere this season isn't even good - off the back of them being a bit rubbish, so all those years of wilderness wasted. It doesn't need us to be rubbish. I'm not sure we'll quite "cleanse" the ground as people hope. We just need some proper commitment from the club towards it and I mean a bit like what Southampton have done. I'm not saying St Marys is anything special but I'd imagine theirs will pick it up time.

A pathetic, limp wristed attitude from our gormless, passionless supporters tonight.

The worst home atmosphere for a local Derby that I can ever remember.

The above only applies to before we even went 2-1 down.

A disgusting place to watch football

Post of the year for me. Fed up with our dogshit fans.

Honestly need to hang our heads in shame. So many fans give it big licks about how much they hate Forest.

The levels from their support compared to ours was chalk and cheese.

It’s mad how one catchy song can dictate our fans. The Albania song saved our support in 2022. Then We Love You took off in the relegation season.

Last year had so many topical chants that revolved around Enzo/promotion. We’re really thin.

Mind you our fanbase is broken to the point that I can’t imagine anything fresh catching on. The Buonanotte chant that was posted is an absolute banger, but I’d be amazed if it took off.

Even derby can get everyone in one place ffs

Strangely enough I was at pride park today (don’t ask). They aren’t loud at all. Much like us just loads of kids in Adidas sambas playing on their phones. Rail seating was cool though

No way would Derby churn up the same shite we did for Forest yesterday 😂 Imagine how poor our atmosphere would be for a mid table championship clash vs Hull.

Yeh fair enough it’s not a pound for pound comparison. However I’m not sure you can call that south stand ‘everyone in one place.’ Only a small amount appeared to be making a noise

I’m not comparing our atmosphere with the City Ground because clearly traditional grounds are much more atmospheric than soulless bowls. However, from my experience, we are certainly behind Derby and Coventry who also play in boring modern stadiums. That’s what’s frustrating, we’re clearly worse than our peers! The club doesn’t give a **** and without them it’s never going to change

Derby and forest have more passionate supporters. Ultimately if you have passionate supporters, people use their voices because it means a lot to them. We don’t have nearly enough
