On Saturday I stood on a tiny ramshackle scaffold terrace in Kent to watch us beat the worst team, statistically, in the football league in the third round of the FA cup.

3 days later I watched us wilt out of the League Cup within spitting distance of the Tyne.

That's a distance of, roughly, 335 miles travelling from Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

Can anyone boast a further distance travelled over back-to-back matches to watch the Leicester?

The Rules

No counting European away days.

The games must be back to back.

Distance travelled in miles.

If you live abroad and travelled into the UK you can't count that as your travelling mileage.

It must be Leicester  you're watching in both games.

The distance is calculated as your travel distance to both away games added together.

The Travelling League Table

Foxile 5. Gillingham/Newcastle 335 miles.

I might be wrong, but I think the closest for me would be Everton and palace away, alternate weekends. With Madrid away in the middle, not counting Madrid that was only 250 miles or so.

Perhaps cheating a bit as I don't live in Leicester but in 2006/07 I remember I did Southend away then Palace away back to back. From where I live (N. Norfolk) that's 230 miles combined, which is probably my record.

Edit to say rereading your original post that's obviously not what you meant....

We played Newcastle and Southampton back to back in December 2017. That’s got to be further than Newcastle to Gillingham. Didn’t do Southampton myself but someone’s bound to have done them both

That's not cheating at all. Your locating is just as important as the destinations for this. I only ruled out the foreign bods because I have a relative in Australia and they come over for games sometimes. It would render the competition redundant. Perhaps we should have a super-league for international fans.

The Travelling League Table

1 Foxile 5. Gillingham/Newcastle 308 miles.

2 Western Park. Everton/Palace 250 miles.

3 Bovril. Palace/Southend. 230 miles.

Lived in Bergamo, flew to Leicester to catch a bus to Newcastle on the day we lost 1-0 with the delay to kick off.

1115 miles one way.

You're a candidate for the international super-league. Let me just get the domestic league established.

Edited it as I didn’t go to a game before that. Massive ball ache though that was.

Bit confused here - are we talking combined between the two trips or the distance between the two locations?

Excellent question. I had initially just charted the difference between the 2 locations.

HOWEVER - the distance I've travelled is greater. Let's go with that as that's the measure of commitmet.

Great catch. Rules updated accordingly.

I'm Scottish so I travel 330 odd miles each way for ONE home game (which is why I've not done it much since my family came along). Last away game was Arsenal a few years back so that's 880m round trip.

Don't think I've done two back to back games since I was a teen though.

Slight cheat and a bit different, but in 2010/11 I did this with a few other hardy souls. Tues-Fri-Tues (From Leicester)

Tues - Portsmouth away (W 2-1, Lge Cup) (159 miles)
Fri - Portsmouth away (L-1-6) (159 miles)

Tues - Norwich away (L 3-4) (134 miles)

Just also in the 2013/14 season, anyone who did Carlisle away in the cup and then went to Charlton away four days later... that's 315 miles apart apparently.

Good on you. I’m struggling to get motivated to go to the home games, and live within 20 miles of the ground.

Good thread though, will be interesting to see

Intense dedication. Hats off. We'll count the first 2 as they give the greatest total. 318 puts you second.

I didn't do it - but we once had Hartlepool on a Tuesday and Bristol Rovers on the Saturday

That's 226 + 336

There will be some big extremes in the lower leagues because you have Barrow, Hartlepool, Carlisle, Morecambe and then the Devon clubs.

They can total it themselves and we'll do it on trust.

Probs cheating as I live in Blackpool but last season I did Watford at home - 149 miles, and then Southampton away - 267 miles. So 416 miles. I’ve probably done further than that but that’s the first one that comes to mind

Thanks for the reminder, didn't do the cup game but did Portsmouth away in the league and then Norwich away.

Actually quite tricky to remember back to back away matches. Quite rare anyway.
