This season more than any other I remember we appear to lack any leadership on the picture. No one picks the players up when the heads begin to drop.

We lost our Captain Kasper in the summer.

Jonny Evans is always injured

Tielemans is too quiet and let's be honest, his head has not been in Leicester for a while.

Maddison, by far our best player, can change the game with his skill but is he a leader? Maybe in the future, but again he seems preoccupied with injuries

So who on the pitch is leading the team, who can influence/motivate the players when things start to go wrong?

I don't think we have a bad team and when things are going well that is evident, but we don't have a strong leader in the team who can change things when we start to fall.

I don't think Rodgers is big or loud enough from the bench to cover the lack of a leader on the pitch.

Rodger's seems to go for someone who can pass on his tactical decisions rather than a motivator.

Maybe once they settle in Souttar, Kristiansen or Faes might be more appropriate but i've always taken the view that you don't need the captain's armband to motivate, cajole or commiserate with players anyone that has it in them should be doing it.

General football problem, very few true leaders in todays game.

Yeah, I said this before, look around the league. In the past 10/15/20 years we've seen Adams, Vieira, Keane, Gerrard, Terry, etc and now we don't really see leaders like that. It's not just a problem with us.

Maddison is a leader, seems a very clever footballer and does lead by example, but we are lacking a nasty midfielder who can rattle the opposition and drive players with shear energy and determination, KDH can do that at times but not consistently

We don't have one.

No Schmeichel.

No Vardy  at his prime.

No Wes,Walshy type player.

The ones we have are too soft or dont have the bo11ox for a fight.

Tipped KDH to  be club captain, but his performances have dipped off a cliff.

KDH is a really strange one. He had a barn storming debut last season but now looks pretty average by his own standards. Rogers has to get more out of him. Biased officiating aside he will have got at them today for conceding such a sloppy soft goal when we had manu by the jugular. Another self inflicted mistake lets them off the hook than at the other end not putting even one of the golden chances in. De gea is going to make wonder saves that’s what he does so we gotta out smart him.

I thought he was completely absent today. He gives us energy, but sometimes you need a bit more. Youri can look like he is running in treacle sometimes, but he’s got that one pass in his locker to win a game.

I think next game we go with Wilf and Youri.

Mendy has to start and shouldn't have been taken off today. Missed him massively in 2nd half. Youri and soumare gave us nothing.

We know Youri needs a run of games to get into the flow.

Mendy has done well, but we can’t be drawn into thinking Mendy and KDH will be the midfield we need going forward. Regardless of what people think Youri is still our most creative deep lying play maker, and N’didi is still the best at what he does when he is fit. We need to give them both a go against Arsenal in my opinion.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. There's no way we can drop Mendy for ndidi at the present time imo, and this is from one of wilfs biggest fans

Sorry, but don’t agree. Today Madders didn’t lead by example. Too often he flung his arms up in desperation and showed his frustration with his team mates. Sometimes he stopped working back when he lost the ball. Not leadership material for me based on today’s evidence.

More than happy to have Madders as captain. He'll grow into it. Can't blame him for being frustrated today can you?

I’d love to agree but if we’re basing Madders leadership ability, he failed with a big capital F.

Even when we were all over them, he didn’t offer that leadership conviction nor encouragement to his team mates, if anything he was the most damning and deconstructive to the cause.

I love Madders as a player but like Youri need to take off the blue tinted glasses, they’re not staying so making them captain seems off to me.

Respect your points but I'm going to go mad and give him more than two games to prove himself in the role.

Totally respect that but the amount of criticism that Rodgers gets for making Youri captain surely could/should be considered for Madders too.

Rodgers comments about his contract situation was hardly positive and he’s our biggest asset with a huge rebuild pending.

Madders deserves respect for his last 18 months performances in particular but think his leadership on the pitch isn’t one of the things that springs to mind.

I do think his interviews are top level but that’s a different matter.

Leadership can also come through actions and deeds. The odd crunching tackle and bravery. We do have some candidates like KDH Faes and Maddison but it needs to be more consistent. During the summer shakeup we need to place this trait high on our wish list.

Agreed. It was a frustrating game. But as captain, I think he needs to harness his frustration more constructively. I saw Ronadaloesque traits yesterday which I don’t appreciate. Admittedly it’s early days and he will get more time to grow into the role. He is an intelligent and articulate young man, who learns quickly.
