Leicester Fosse is clearly more unique and would be differentiated from any other club. This is the case for the likes of Aston Villa, Nottm Forest, West Brom etc. Having said that, out of the two names I would still go for City.

Not sure they do. They know us simply as Leicester. The City has been dropped mostly from our name by those broadcasters that want to use it exclusively for a Manchester club. Younger fans have now picked up on it, sadly.

Leicester is a rugby club.

Watch Man City’s last minute goal against Gillingham, commentator screams “City” and not “Manchester City”.

People get hung up on the “City” thing.

If you support the City team in your City, then the club is “City”. But nationwide Manchester City are the biggest “City” and probably always have been.

We’re City. Leicester fans referring to Man City as City is very sad, even if you’re not from Leicester. Obviously we become Leicester City from 1919, as we are awarded with City status. Whether or not I’d like the change if I was around then, probably not.
Perhaps when we lose football forever to the greed that is hovering over our game, Leicester Fosse is a good name for the Phoenix club.

Bloody hell, this was 20 years ago??

Feel old...

Voted City then and woul probably vote City again.

ALTHOUGH we would be unique being called Fosse so worth a decent shout.

The uniqueness would be cool if the word didn't mean ditch and sound a bit weird to say. Being named after a Roman road doesn't get my juices flowing either.

Besides we became world famous as "Leicester City". It'd be a bit crazy to throw away or confuse that recognition of our achievements.

See this is just weirdly overly sensitive to me.

Leicester is a one club city, we're just Leicester. Newcastle are just Newcastle, Leeds are just Leeds. You don't need to make any distinction or clarification when you talk about clubs.

Crewe Alexandra?

I like City as part of our name before I go on. What about Leicester with no suffix like Southampton for example. Or just for arguments sake Leicester County as the examples not so far away. Years ago I worked with a older lady that was aware I was a Leicester fan but had only a vague idea of football. She once asked me if Leicester and Leicester City were the same team.
