He’s tailed off badly after Christmas twice now. Starting to question his longevity. I’m not that bothered about letting him go in the summer, stolar number 1 and then pick up that Dmitrovic from leganes who we were linked with on a free in the summer as back up

Looks like a half arsed dive, whereas in the past he’d dive with effort and determination. Ultimately that extra speed to the reaction is all the difference.

Exactly. I’m not surprised his heart isn’t in it at this moment. First experience of the Premier League and it has been as bad as it could have been.

Put himself in the shop window and a few good performances could increase his salary at the next club as he’s on a relatively low one here.

I completely get that, but sometimes when your are not confident and your head isn’t there even the possibility of financial gain doesn’t change it.

The club is truly on its arse. Nobody wants to be there at the moment.

I can think of several loan goalkeepers we’ve had since the mid 00’s who were better than he’s been this season.

Be fair. Better in a lower division. He was extremely good in a lower division. I know I sound like I am his dad or something right now, but we have all seen how capable he can be and I don’t think ability like that just vanishes.

Mads is a very good goalkeeper, let’s be fair to him - He’s had 12/13 different donkeys  in front of him this season and we’ve been under the cosh every single game. Of course ‘having your back against the ropes’ every game will have an effect on your confidence but i don’t think he’s been bad this year, few iffy moments of course but he’s still very young and it was his first season in the best league in the world.

Id very happily keep Mads next season but I also agree if someone does come sniffing for the right price then let him go.

Judging from the comments here. I must have imagined some of his performances this season which included a record breaking save tally at Arsenal and last week v Liverpool he showed signs of his former self

The fact we'll comfortably sell him in the summer will show those reacting like this to a bad patch of form that he is actually a very good keeper.

Yet can’t dislodge Kasper that was bombed out of the club nearly 3 years ago

but his distribution is elite

“ Mads Hermansen's unbelievably poor 18% pass completion, and you already have a recipe for disaster if your team can't play out from the back with any sort of accuracy.”

And what happened when we bombed him out?

His pass completion I'm pretty sure was very good last season and he also completed a ridiculous amount of passes, in a better team his distribution statistics will no doubt improve again.

He got dropped from the next team, then tried his luck at another club, then ended up at Celtic

He’s got an absolute dogs dinner of a defence in front of him.  While I’ve no idea if he’ll make it a champions league club,  I can see someone bidding for him.

we’ll actually make some money on him which makes him one of the better signings in the last 3 or so years.

Also, the gulf is so huge in quality as we have seen this year. Having a good season in the Championship doesn’t mean Jack shit.

Just like how James Trafford was dropped by kompany last season and yet kept 28 clean sheets this season.

What happened to us? Not always about ability is it? Especially at international level where for all you know the manager wants experienced players?

You've missed the point massively

He needs Winks, as he can play in those tight spaces. It invites the oppression press and with better options, you can surpass it and break. Vestergaard is also in this ilk. They’re specialist players that fit a system. Even to a degree Faes fits into this.

I mean, would you want to pass a ball into the feet of Soumare or Ndidi?

The challenge we’ve had, is that once teams figured out that they only needed to mark Winks, he gets overloaded, as he’s passing to duffers, you know the ball is coming straight back.

People might not like Winks, Vestergaard etc, however if we’d have adopt a ball retention with quick counter attacks to break the press with fast wingers, we’d have been much better this season. This also relied on having quick wingers and we signed Ayew and Reid for some unbelievable reason. We might have been better playing Daka on the wing once Fatawu got injured, as he played in that role for Salzburg.

Even signing people like Dan James, Tom Fellows, Ben Doak, Morgan Whittaker or Josh Murphy would have allowed us to have a bloody outlet.

The defence has buckled under constant pressure as they’re not good enough to constantly defend when the opposition have the ball, we needed to retain it more. Easier said than done I know, against better opposition this season.

This leans to Hermansens goal getting peppered constantly.

No goalkeeper that has ever lived is going to keep a clean sheet with that amount of pressure. He’s similar to Ederson in that he’s a competent goalkeeper but is a good ball player (for a goalkeeper).

We are a mess as Cooper wasn’t on the same mould of coach as Maresca, so we ended us purchasing players that didn’t support the specialist players we have.

Bottom line is, all of this has exposed Hermansen, however he’ll be gone in the summer for £20 - £25m.

I do think he will go for more even if his stock has dropped, his age and playing ability for a goalkeeper is in demand and hard to find.

Young keeper gets injured, comes back into the worst side in the league in a toxic environment and doesn’t perform to his best every game… Shock

Still hasn’t even performed badly. Just not to what we’ve seen. Very understandable I think, we’re shite and down.

He’s a quality shot stopper and good distribution. Deserves a chance at Chelsea better than that fraud they have.

I’d swap him for maybe 5 keepers in the league at most.

Got dropped? He played 36 games, finished 4th in most clean sheets. Then went to anderlecht where he played 31 games as they finished 2nd, then played another 30 games as Celtic won the league. Not been dropped anywhere and would still walk into our team
