Didn’t he go on loan to Sevilla and was a regular when they qualified for the champions league? And before he was with us was a regular in a Ligue 1 winning team…

Tonight, I don't think he lacked effort. Sometimes only one offering any movement off the ball. But laughable quality at times.

Not quite, they finished 14th that season. Finished 17th the season after so it somehow got worse for them after he left.
