CosbehFox Posted 6 November 2024 Posted 6 November 2024 (edited) I don't think it crashes - it's just whether it sustains the growth. Their ground as it stands at Step 2 would have real issues and would bring real logistical issues. In many ways remind me of Alvechurch nearby where I used to live. They moved onto a new facility just inside of Birmingham but they are in planning limbo regards the ground. Stevie B mentioned the old chairman - that's one of the reasons they aren't particularly liked across the county. He's the head of the Non-League System (and does all the league organising every May/June). So there's plenty of accusations that they had preferential treatment when it comes to claim for stadium grants etc. It's more likely he just knows the system very well and how to fulfil. (Although setting up your own 'consultancy' company on companies house is hardly a look). Doesn't help that he's old Leics FA Chief Exec, so often used to be arguing with other clubs when it comes to discipline etc. Edited 6 November 2024 by CosbehFox 1

Struck me it was as old and as Golden Gordon as you could get in non-league when I went last season.

They have the Hayes Complex about a ten minute drive away from Lye Meadow (next to Birmingham City's training ground). They literally have all sorts of facilities there and then a plot of land ready to have a new ground built on it with changing rooms etc already there. They have all their youth teams on it. They have been waiting five years for planning permission to be given at Lye Meadow for new housing. 1

The empty terrace stand, the tiny bar, the pitch that slopes twelve different ways all at the same time - it's wonderful 1

Utterly awful from November to early March 1
Craig Posted 8 November 2024 Posted 8 November 2024 With us away on Sunday, looking forward to a trip down Latimer Park tomorrow. Should be quite a few there I'd imagine.

The club isn’t going to crash. The youth section will being in a couple of hundred grand a year, Brooke House also pay to use the site plus others like Villa/FDS. It’s always busy and always taking money. It’s thriving. 1

First day for vouchers for FA Cup tickets, 2k hoped for, 1.5k is guaranteed. Wife is away, scuppering both my chance to drink at the beer festival inside the bar and her chance of a cup ticket. Silly woman. 1
Daggers Posted 9 November 2024 Posted 9 November 2024 1847 through the gate, pretty decent. 3-1 over fourth place Redditch, no FA Cup hangover. Johnny Edwards hitting the mark twice - man is going to be fire. Shocking ref. He was shite last season, he was shite when we played Harbs in August, and today sent off Mbayo for a second yellow despite him not receiving a first. Bloke needs binning to a kiddie league. 2
Daggers Posted 9 November 2024 Posted 9 November 2024 Onabirekhanlen is the biggest turd in non-league imo.

Add to that the clear foul prior to their goal and a bizarre penalty award - point blank range and hit with power. Linesman the dugout side was just as bad too. 1

From what I’ve seen, the penno is actually a proper shout, although I suspect the ref missed the ball hitting their defender on the arm prior to it rebounding onto Edwards’. That Lino missed a clearly obvious foul shortly before their goal. Shame on us for stopping for the decision though - we deserved to be punished. Edited 9 November 2024 by Daggers
Super_horns Posted 9 November 2024 Posted 9 November 2024 Saw this elsewhere - how did they lose? https://www.northernfootballleague.org/event/22304/ 2
Tuna Posted 10 November 2024 Author Posted 10 November 2024 Watched Grantham draw 1-1 with Rugby, two pretty poor teams in all honesty, Rugby scored on 90 and we equalized from a scramble in the 95th minute, good, vocal support from the Rugby fans and a decent crowd of over 300. Lots of work to do to pull away from the relegation zone but looking defensively more solid.

purpleronnie Posted 11 November 2024 Posted 11 November 2024 I see FC United are having another miserable season, their decline continues. They did win on saturday though, a 6 pointer with fellow strugglers Leek Town. The winner scored by the wonderfully name Gerald Sithole.
Daggers Posted 11 November 2024 Posted 11 November 2024 Four hours this morning getting soaked to get a stand ready for Donny fans. They’d better appreciate it. 1

All four stands get used every match but we've got a push on to spruce up the ground before the cameras arrive for the cup tie. We're looking at actually keeping our provision and getting in a temp stand for Donny - so they can be out on the far side and not able to generate as much noise. This kinda thing normally only happens close season when the weather is nice. Doesn't seem like it got done this summer though, but then we were having the pitch relaid and extra drainage installed so that probably prevented access. If volunteers don't do some jobs they don't get done, we don't have a legion of paid cleaners.

They've got the former Warrington manager in, I expect he'll turn it round.

Struggling money wise I think, no shirt sponsor or stadium sponsorship is costing the club potential funds. Still attract decent crowds... so you think they'd attract decent income from that.
