It is disappointing on many levels like you listed but a big one for me is any sort of knowledge, excitement or buzz on a future player is now almost never going to be there.

Cuts line would be absolute bollocks if spouted. I spoke with one of the media team at Sheff Wed a while back and he said it was almost embarrassing us turning up in the Championship with the shear numbers of content team and broadly social media staff.

 

Just gets on your wick even more right now when we are seeing Danny Simpson scoff hotdogs over the actual football club.

It's completely at odds with everything we are supposed to stand for. The academy, courtesy of the state of the art training ground should be our crown jewel and in some ways is because of the dedicated work over the last decade or more. But it's not aligned with the lack of coverage because from the outside looking in, it's anything but being promoted and signifying the pride the club have.

 

I'm fascinated to know why, there will be a reason but once again we'll be starved of said reason, because this club is so closed off and insular. This breeds the resentment from fans who can't just blindly clap the ownership and culture anymore.

 

Really winds me up, my priority as a fan of this club is our academy being the best there is.

I hear you. My profession is public relations, where one of our many buzzwords is authenticity. Our comms are so plastic. So lacking in authenticity. The lack of attention to the under 21s is baffling. The lack of proper fan engagement is baffling. Look at how Liverpool or Tottenham behave towards kids with disabilities, showing them round the club, introducing them to players and management, genuinely lovely experiences, then using the content, it's proper heart warming stuff. We get pictures of Danny Simpson and Filbert in Chicago. I get we want to be a global brand blah blah blah, but their comms are terrible. It's symptomatic of an organisation that has stopped listening to its stakeholders and rejects any kind of challenge. This in turn suggests deep insecurity at the heart of the Club.

Comms Director has been at the club 15 years

Head of Marketing has been at the club 20 years

Head of Brand has been at the club 10 years and is actually a videographer....

 

People DO NOT LEAVE this football club, there is no jeopardy, no challenge, no being held to account. As much as loyalty is great at times, where in that chain is there room for new ideas? What has happened to all of the managers in their team that will have been with them during that time? Left because no chance of promotion or trying out new things?

 

Stinks.

Nothing worse in football than the limbo between under 21s and the first team. 

 

Those players simply have to be on loan. I just can’t wrap my head around the Alves situation, there is no scenario where cooper would use him.  It’s not like he’s 1 injury or suspension away, he’d need 5/6 players out to make the team it’s a disgrace

Why do we bother anymore?

 

Sell the KP site play all games as KPFC at Seagrave with 499 elite guests with hotel facilities etc, we can then  all watch the sick 6.

Hope is never a great strategy! Realistically is there anything we can do in this situation other than suck it up and take the compensation? Yes we can offer XYZ and a path to first team football (or not!) but if a bigger club come knocking is that just tough luck.

Reject the compo and take them to a tribunal every time to get more money and add ons and sell ons etc.

 

Unless we fast track them there isn’t much else

Are we still waiting for the nyoni tribunal? Seems the PL are very keen to crack down on clubs like us for overspending, but simultaneously have no appetite for making Liverpool pay the several million pounds they owe us for stealing our player.

Only way he does if we guarantee him 1st team football when he turns 16 and that as soon as we're able to offer proper terms a salary thats comparable to what any of the big 6 would. Some will favour 1st team football at a younger age knowing they stand possibly more of a chance of making it.

Is that something we offer? It feels like we have the best academy products we've had in years and the quality of the players that we are signing are some of the worst we have had in years. Yet the gap between our first team and our academy hasnt felt greater.
