Spain should KO Germany if they beat Georgia tomorrow.

Every win will increase the Germans' confidence. But yeah, don't see that much to fear from the Germans. They're vulnerable and wasteful. Should probably start Füllkrug instead of Havertz in the quarters.

Appreciate Bochum hate them and everything about the place but I went recently and it was nowhere near as bad as what I was expecting.

Nobody should visit that area without a trip to the football museum, in fairness.

Scandalous that an Englishman can be out there playing and scoring for Germany

In fairness it was scandalous that a German was playing and scoring for England.

He is definitely a German and shouldn't really have been playing for us. German mother, born in Germany, lived in Germany until he was 7, moved back to Germany before Brexit hit... He's German.

The explanation of why the goal was ruled out, and handball given is a great summary of what is wrong with modern football

No…. It’s a great description of what the current rules are…. We can debate whether they should be changed or not…. That’s totally fair

It made sense to me…

I was having a pee when the penalty incident occurred, only just seen the replay (you didn’t really need that detail but it explains the late reaction), WTF, games gone, finished, joke decision or as others have corrected to say joke law, that Denmark player had no intention or unnatural stance to meet the ball, it’s a fluke, a freak incident / accident.

Future of the game (but already happening) will be get into the box and chip / scoop ball at opponents body, 30-40 % chance of hitting an arm. Already happens, balls are chipped with so little pace that they were never a cross, just an attempt to draw a handball. Ratface Fernandes is a master at it.

Ffs take this lady back to NBA2k.

At least she explains it clearly - unlike people like dermot Gallagher and the tnt ex ref

it’s not her fault that the laws and use of var are crap

Seemed to be getting a mixed reaction to her but she seemed clear and sure in herself .

Maybe the officials don’t like these rules ?

I was just in and out pretty much for a game but walk from the centre to the stadium was alright and the city centre was just a normal centre. Next time I go I’ll look in the museum as it does look decent.

She's explained it incredibly well, and hats off to her for how well she's broken it down.

But just a look at the faces of the other 4 in the room, I imagine that summaries a lot of the expressions of those around the world watching

Interesting point…. Oliver can only apply the rules…. He was bang on…

she was entirely clear…. Impressively so, when punditry is often so vague and sloppy frankly

Ian Wright was correct when he said they have gone too far into the science of the way the human body behaves instead of simply saying was it a deliberate handball and or was the direction changed.

Tbf I think she's lovely. But I (and possibly we) don't want this pragmatic approach to this specific sport. Both offside and handball rules are wrong and they're ruining the sport.

Then it becomes subjective…. Keeps him in a job!!

Better that we understand that on or off is yes or no

In it's simplest form, yes.

But we now apply the rule to so many situations that are subjective

It could  (should ) be quite simple and totally objective with the latest tech (very impressive btw)…. The tech shows a part of the body that could score a goal in front of the  equivalent body parts of the last defender…. Totally objective
