Leicester City Football Club today publishes its Fan Engagement Plan for the 2024/25 Premier League season, which includes the launch of a new framework that will increase the opportunities for a greater number of supporters to put their views to the Club.

- Leicester City launches its 2024/25 Fan Engagement Plan
- New framework of engagement gives more opportunities for fans to have their say
- Season Ticket Holders and Members can apply to join the Fan Advisory Board

A commitment under the Premier League’s Fan Engagement Standard, the Fan Engagement Plan (FEP), structures the way we consult with fans on Club matters that directly affect the fan experience. It highlights the ways we will seek to gauge fan opinion, gather ideas and seek strategic input from a diverse cross-section of the Club’s supporter base and demonstrates ways fans can get involved.

The new framework has been developed by The FA in collaboration with the Foxes Trust - an affiliate member of the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) representing the interests of Leicester City fans. The Club has sought the views of the FSA and ensured a role for its established UK-based supporter groups in the framework (Foxes Pride, LCFC Disability Support Association, LCFC Official Supporters Club, Union FS and LCFC Women’s Official Supporters’ Club). An extended plan for international and newly established supporter groups is in development, and the Club would welcome applications from suitable experienced parties from the wider season ticket and membership bases.

The framework includes the introduction of a Fan Advisory Board (FAB), which will include representation from both supporters and the Club’s senior management, meeting four times a season to discuss key strategic issues that affect the supporter experience.

FAB members will also lead the process of gathering wider supporter insight from our FCC Working Groups (an evolution of the Club’s established Fans Consultative Committee) which will build on matters raised through open Your 90 Minute sessions and feedback gathered from an increased programme of supporter surveys and through LCFC Help.

ABOUT THE FAB AND HOW YOU CAN APPLY

In establishing the FAB, the Club will aim to apply a further layer of strategic consultation with supporters, meeting four times per season and taking a longer-term view of the Club’s supporter-orientated initiatives. Through its recruitment process, the Club will be looking to bring together a representative mix of supporters with diversity of experience, background and relevant expertise for the matters under discussion.

The FAB will be made up of 11 members - five from the Club and six supporters who will be selected on the following basis:

- All applicants must be 2024/25 Men’s or Women’s Season Ticket Holders or Fox Members
- One supporter to represent and be nominated by The Foxes Trust.
- Two supporters to be elected from the Club’s most recent Fans Consultative Committee (FCC).
- Three supporters from an open application process, to be selected by an independent interview panel.

Applications to join the FAB are now open to all 2024/25 Season Ticket Holders and Fox Members. Click HERE to apply. The open application process for the FAB will close at 5pm on Tuesday 20 August 2024. All applicants should ensure they have considered the Terms of Reference and Code of Conduct before they apply.

Applications for the Club’s new FCC Working Groups will open w/c 26 August 2024, while the first Your 90 Minute session of the new season (on matchday experience) will take place on Wednesday 31 July. We thank all those who have confirmed their participation, and for those interested in attending a future Your 90 Minute session, the next date will be in September, with details on how to attend to be confirmed soon.

Yes just got back. 55 people applied all invited. Did not do an accurate head count but was about 40 people there. Meeting led by Jim on behalf of the club as advertised the group provided input on enhancing the match-day experience, criticized catering, discussed clappers, expanding singing section and safe standing. Varied opinions but thought it was a start let’s see what transpires. They announced the Fan Engagement that hit the website as we were meeting.

Nearly 50% of this is made up by club employees.

What is the make-up of other clubs Fabs?

Seems ridiculous

Depends on the club. There’s no true answer. Originally the fan numbers was going to be lower but we lobbied hard to ask for a rethink on that.

Us involved within the reform group would prefer something towards Everton’s model which is like a 9/1 split and they believe that meetings are more constructive with a single club conduit

Just to say personal opinion is that I’m fully concerned at the regularity of meetings. This will only have an effect if those on the FAB make it work. Three months occurance doesn’t see anything come into reality.

There’s a lot of waffle here - I question the motivation why the club have left it off the table for so long.

To give an idea nearly a week has passed on the FCC, there’s no meeting minutes. If I acted like that professionally for a record meeting, my competence would be questioned

The fine print on this is extremely worrying. 5 from the club are reps but only 3 have to attend meetings. They will also regularly review the members and selection will be based on being a ‘model supporter’.

As is the norm these days there is also commentary about the ultimate selection being diverse and inclusive, but the potentially wonky legal part of that is that they’ve not indicated how that will be determined or selected.

Im sure some consulting barrel of guff had great fun putting this together for 6 weeks.

The sad thing here is that this is an opportunity for the club to understand the perspective of fans.  This could enable the club to make better decisions and to avoid conflicts and ridicule as has been the case with nearly every recent announcement.  As fans we want the club to be a better version of itself...

Yet the club are seeking to tightly manage the fab.  (We should remember that all fcc reps are ckub appointees.... let's see if the ufs rep gets on the fab...)

The appointment committee includes the club and someone from the trust...  again this isnt democratic.

This is a missed opportunity... lord knows the club needs the help of a robust soundingboard.

Im of the personal opinion a lot of how the club has done it is to stop questioning voices.

Zero faith this model leads to positive changes, looks all too cosy to the comms director and yes voices.

Yeah that does seem suspect.

It is the ckubs misunderstanding

The fab is for discussion... questions and answers... it not going to vote... there isnt going to be a fight.

As mentioned in another thread, Foxes Talk is the single biggest contributor to negativity and poor stadium atmosphere. Like most online social forums it has become a cesspool of negativity and over magnified opinions.

Come on now. It’s nothing of the sort, its purely down to effort to sing.

That's a very negative view of foxestalk....

We are going thru a winter of dissatisfaction with the way the club is run.  What do you expect?  We should all be happy or grateful?

I think a wait and see policy is best, rather the prejudging something.

Best to judge it on the impact or not it has.

The difficulty is once it’s set, it’s set. Plenty of clubs have puppet FABs in place but on the outset it looked good

So how are you going to change it?

Another thing is the FCC is full of folk happy to just see Seagrave now and again plus a free spread. It’s cosy and anyone the club don’t have to keep on that is perceived a voice is not invited back.
That being said I bet the club is not inundated with fresh blood, we are a fanbase that largely just does not care enough.

You can’t really. Unless the comms director leaves or is exposed by the fan groups to Whelan for his continued failings when it comes to fans nothing will change. This will work in his favour massively. Tick box, “we have an FAB”, “we talk to the fans”, a recruitment process than ensures certain types are kept away.

To be a week late on your own deadline for a fan engagement plan / launch and to not be challenged on it blows my mind really, but aye, the club are serious about all of this.
