Harris is starting to look a bit like Starmer; probably not good enough for the task at hand but definitely better than the alternative.

They all suck. Just a contest of dumb and dumber and zero hope that any of our corrupt Ruling Class and their masters will ever represent all Americans and not just the wealthy and connected. Turn us over we're done.

Question time special in Philly with Fiona Brucey.

They said it would be lively. They weren't wrong.

Trump supporters don't help themselves at all.

Ms White, Republican Trump loyalist, on the panel claiming no new wars started under Trump as if to say he's prevented war whilst he was president. Laughable.

They don't feel that they need to. They feel they have enough numbers to influence policy in the way they want to the detriment of practically everyone else anyway.

$1900 a month for health insurance in USA :jawdrop:

Bupa including dental, eye care etc in UK is about the same in the UK.  My family plan is more than double that.

Little bit frustrating that show focused on numerous areas where Trump could appear "strong" and pander to halftruths and prejudices (economics and immigration) and next to none where he and his platform could be challenged much more solidly (women's and minority rights issues, scientific policy).

Clearly they're the most "important" issues for a lot of Americans, but the focus on immediate short term gain issues just plays to the strengths of those who value short term thinking most and leads nowhere good long term.

Good point. She appears devoid of any inspiration, personality or leadership abilities. It’s like she’s running for a council position in north Darlington. She seems like sunak, a competent administrator but a long way from being a commander in chief . She’s doing the right thing by avoiding live broadcast. Her campaign has to headline on ‘I’m not a criminal and I’ll protect your gun rights’

Should be something about basic rights to bodily autonomy in there too tbh.

$23,800 pa. So about £17,500. that sounds very reasonable to me. What do you expect health care to cost?

Without doing any maths I bet we fund the nhs to the tune of about £10k pp pa and our staff are disgustingly underpaid and facilities shot to pieces

Though, as is the case with Starmer, the option doesn't have to be charismatic or very inspiring (though as with Obama, those would be a plus).

The option just has to not be a sociopath enabling other sociopaths who care nothing about the future or anyone outside their "in-group".

Nothing when you've actually paid the insurance for it. That's what it's for.

But then in the US that's never the case, is it?

In this case I totally agree because the alternative is Donald trump. Like, actually, Donald trump…
But otherwise it’s a joke. These people are leaders, their job is to represent the state on the international arena, motivate their administrators to carry out their policy agenda and connect with their citizens. Lyin’ Kamala and crooked Joe woefully fail in that for me.

Yeh that’s true. It was mentally complex when I worked in DC

Yeah, the bar is properly fvcking low. But these are the times we live in.

Right. It's utterly labyrinthine. And it costs decent people money, health and sometimes life.

Genuine question as I don’t know, did Trump do a good job in his last term? So on whatever metrics count; employment, economy, world relations, immigration, healthcare etc, did they perform well under his leadership? Lazily I never looked beyond him (as a buffoon at best) to consider the actual job he did.
