Amazing how many of the “you lost, get over it” types on a referendum nearly a decade ago are begging for another election after less than 6 months because they can’t handle that they lost.

Possibly the news you're consuming? I've noticed how hysterical sections of the media have been since early July.

He's a Labour PM, of course those sections of social and other media are going to caterwaul.

Either too short memories to remember the last lot or too short-sighted and self interested to see what Reform really have to offer for the future of everyone, rather than a select few.

Never let it be said that Trumpian politics wasn't built on the grossest hypocrisy.

I’m not sure you can link brexit voters to the 2m + people who voted on that poll. I’d wager there’s a decent proportion of Starmer voters who have actually now done a complete u-turn, backed up by opinion polls.

Either way - however many people sign a petition there is a 0 chance of a GE until end of the term anyway.

It is really thick, if anything should be pushed from this point is a more proportional system, not like the tories are any better, least Starmer is quite transparent

Some of the open letters to King Charles doing the rounds are absolutely incredible.

I wouldn't bother putting an acca on this weekend.

Yeh I’ve seen - it will be riddled with bots and overseas signatures.

Still, points stands there will be a decent proportion of voters that will of u-turned and signed that petition.

Finally, the petition is pointless, thankfully our country isn’t run on petitions and has a fair way of electing political parties into power.

Ukraine are 100% finished by the way. They’ve run out of men and Zelensky (rightly thinking about the bigger picture) won’t mobilise the under 25’s. The war is done, it’s just about the when in terms of the deal.

TBF, would you really want back towns and villages that have been pulverised to dust?

If ever there's been a Pyrrhic victory in this century, this is it.

Agreed, he can let the east go and he is signalling that’s fine, they will still have their country which is what was at risk. The sticking point is going to be security guarantees. Ukraine isn't getting NATO with Trump coming in, but they need something. However Putin will just keep pushing for complete capitulation sadly. If the frontline steadies then he may negotiate but who knows what they’ll eventually agree to. Thankfully Russia will also be finished for the foreseeable.

Even if that ends up being true, it's true of pretty much any government in history voted in. Don't recall seeing this kind of hysterical nonsense (as you rightly point out) before though.

You only to look at his approval numbers

So any time a PM doesn't have great personal ratings in the polls we should have an election?

If Ukraine gets a new border, they need to mine it immediately, and possibly more and worse.

Horrible thing to do but I’m struggling to see security otherwise.

Can't believe a government would do the unpopular things now instead of just before an election. So weird...

The burden of proof's not on me. The only people I've seen admitting to signing any petition so far are people who'd never vote Labour in the first place, bots from abroad, and absolute fvcking morons who think quoting Magna Carta is a genuine legal defence.

The last decade has warped perceptions of what normal politics looks like. There isn’t going to be a change of PM, there isn’t going to be an election, the Chancellor now will probably be the Chancellor in 2028. The government is going to do some stuff some people like and other stuff some people don’t like. Then in about 4 years you get to decide whether the government has done enough stuff you like for them to have a bit longer at it. That’s how it works.

And I gave you proof that would indicate the assertion that people who voted Starmer have probably done a U turn, I’d imagine more within the red wall than the metropolitan areas though. You’re a bit to fixated with the petition which is a red herring.

Someone’s pointed out that only 150 of these were just from overseas IPs. My wife and I were 2 of them from the US, FYI

Just gone into the data and it was much more than 150 but looking at the countries and plausibility of UK expats, it’s still not some grand conspiracy that Russian bots are signing this

What proof have you given?

Why have you signed, out of interest?
