… okay, there may not be many, but I noticed a comment, or many comments about how the ‘World Famous Reds’ would beat us this Friday. If there is a globetrotting fan on here, I would love to hear them ask random people from around the world, under 60, if they have heard of Nottingham Forest and if they have heard of Leicester City.

Just for funsies!

Great point and I would say in the aftermath of our Premier League win the profile of Leicester City ballooned and most anywhere in the world people recognized and wanted to talk about the dream. In Africa people now asked for Leicester City shirts alongside the big names. In America especially with proper football fans from South American backgrounds it was the same. I don’t class the MLS as real football (sorry to those offended). I am sure to some degree in the Clough era Forest saw something similar but it has long faded into the mists of time. Sadly I am sure the same will happen to Leicester but we have the memory advantage of social media and while we are in the Premier the highest valued national competition. Maybe the new FAB heritage group can reignite global interest.

and if they're ignorant and have not heard of Notts Forest surely they will have heard of the world famous City Ground dump?

These lot are a total bunch of deluded twonks - loads of them think Liverpool are a main rival

No socials in those days. Just newspapers, limited radio and grainy telly pictures pre video recorders. The LCFC story was unstoppable worldwide. Those walking down to the stadium in 2016 would've seen the world's media gathered. Even Americans can pronounce Leicester now, even Tom Hanks.

The World Famous City, and it's not Nottingham.

I reckon I'm very qualified to speak about this.

I work in aviation and am usually in a different part of the globe week in week out and I can honestly say masses more people around the world know of, and still want to talk about Leicester City thanks solely to our Prem story and win. It literally gripped the World!

I had an LCFC sticker on my suitcase during our title winning season and I can't tell you the amount of times people in airport terminals, hotel workers, baggage handlers, other airline staff would come up to me and say how much they were following our team and story and hoped we would do it. It was phenomenal wherever I went. The Americans were the most engrossed but it literally was everywhere and every trip. As soon as anyone saw the sticker they recognised it, read it and knew instantly who we are/were. Now, they still remember us.

Even now, whenever I get asked where I'm from with my English accent and I say I'm from Leicester(shire) I can guarantee 9 out of 10 people say something about our team and our story and how incredible it all was and how they were rooting for us to do it, even in Dallas 2 weeks ago I spoke to a bar manager and waitress in a bar who knew about us. It's a great feeling tbh!

I was chatting to a Virgin Atlantic First Officer in San Fransisco airport about it at the time and he was really hoping we'd do it as a Manu U fan until his "up his own arse" Captain said "Oh, it's a rather new sticker isn't it?" as if I was a glory hunter fan, until I rolled up my sleeve and said, "Yeah, but the tattoo (LCFC badge) is 40 years old mate" Shut the twat up!

Anyway, I can guarantee very few of all those people around the globe who spoke to me and know our story would know who Nottingham Forest are.

Friends of mine went to New York in 2018. When the taxi driver asked them where they were from, they said Leicester. The taxi driver said very enthusiastically “ ahh Jamie Vardy”.

Yeah, I can imagine that.

I knew we were massive the first time I saw fake Vardy LCFC tops in Hong Kong market stalls. lol

I think Nottm Forest, for a club that has hardly been in the PL in recent years, are actually very well liked and respected round the world. Especially in Europe. Lots of people in Bulgaria for example know them from the two European Cup winning teams and the fact that CSKA Sofia ended their run.

I hate them but I'm not going to diminish the fact they have a very impressive history and fan base.

I was at the City Ground for that game as my dad used to take me to random matches.  Probably my favourite football memory that doesn't involve Leicester!
