Can anyone explain what the EFL have on us re punishment? Did the sale of KDH and Enzo money within that financial year exonerate us from EFL hit or is it more historical?
it seems folk on here know it to be a certainty, is it?

I’d imagine if we escaped punishment for our relegation year based on being outside of the EPL jurisdiction, we would have to fall under EFL so maybe a historical punishment for 22/23? Others probably know better.

we don't know the result of 23/24 season accounts yet, i think the thinking is, they'll try and punish us for 22/23 season when we're in that league

You can’t punish someone through a competition that they weren’t a part of surely?

To be fair, looking at how the PL’s efforts went, you’d imagine the same would happen to the EPL too…… I don’t think it’s even fair to go after a team that’s spent a full calendar year in either league…… just doesn’t seem fair to me.

i guess the EFL think we were part of the league the moment we left the PL. It's all legal stuff that i guess will be challenged if we're relegated, and if we've broken psr for 23/24 then we're knackered anyway

Given that we successfully argued that we were a Championship club at the end of the 2022/23 season (and thereby beyond the scope of the PL), the EFL could reasonably argue that we fell under their jurisdiction.

did we argue that, or did we argue we were in limbo land?

I imagine Nick Di Marco will argue that we were only under EFL jurisdiction for a fortnight or so in that accounting period and didn't materially break the rules during that period.

Agree, surely this relates to what makes a team part of the EPL or the Championship, at its core of this argument? If the EPL could have shown we were an EPL team then I am sure they would have, and the same will no doubt be a test case in relation to the Championship too.

Haha the old ‘too shit to punish’ escape trick

yeah it's all dependent on whether PL can punish for EFL breaking of rules and vice versa, I don't think they quite had it together till this.

Maybe Rudkin also sorts their rulebooks out?

I think the EFL will have been planning a league case all season in the event we go down. We can’t escape it again. Next season might be a case of trying to survive in the championship with -9 deduction. It’ll be significant.

-9 if the EFL can punish us, it would be far more significant than that……

I imagine a transfer embargo from the off, and enough points to relegate us. They want to destroy us, they have done ever since we won the league, and they probably won’t stop until they have…

Survive? I’d argue we’d make the playoffs with -9, and I’m pessimistic.

Depends what happens. Transfer embargo, player sales and who goes and who is forced to stay.

It could get very messy

I think there’s a limit of how many points they can deduct tbf

would be interesting to know what our wage bill was at atm, to determine who we'd need to move on should we go down, guess this will come out with the accounts, because if there is a transfer embargo, that will all be a factor. It's a complete mess really

We're already under a transfer embargo from them aren't we? Can't see that being immediately lifted if/when they get their hands on us again.

Transfer embargo might actually be long term beneficial. It’ll make us invest in our coaches and academy products.
