Was at the o2 for the event today- think it probably came across much better in the arena than on tv based on social media. The boos for Horner and the FIA were great 😂

And he wonders why so many people dont like him. I dont think i ever heard Michael Schumacher blow his own trumpet like this tosspot does. Theres a difference between confidence and arrogance. Still remember when he said he was from the ‘slums’ because he was from Stevenage 😂. Hes the same silver spooned kid in Karting as the rest of them. No one poor goes into that sport

There’s nothing in that statement that’s untrue though. If you’re the only ever black driver ever you literally are unique and given you’ve beaten unimaginable odds before why not beat much lower odds again? He’ll get the chance to back the words up anyway.

Just making himself sound like a twat. Have you ever heard of another top athlete that says ‘im built differently to everyone else’? You might think it but you dont need to say it. Just pure arrogance and makes people hope he trips up

Yeah, loads to be honest. You probably need a bit of arrogance to get to the top.

You also have to back it up though. We’ll see for this one.

Who? Ive heard boxers say they are the best fighters but ive never heard anyone say no other sports person has the mentality i have. Just a massively inflated ego. Do your talking on the race track unlike the last 4 years

Bolt, Cristiano Ronaldo, Cantona a few that come to mind. Obviously every boxer. You’re right about do the talking on the race track and it’s up to him to do it now.

Seems like McLaren were the best team with Red Bull left behind a bit in fourth

.

Williams impressed but unsurprisingly Aston Martin and Stake Sauber didn’t .

Macca just need to get used to winning if they have the fastest car. Lando is quickest but prone to mistakes and Piastri has the hallmarks of a journeyman to me.

Flexiwing rules could see a shakeup once they are enforced. Which might play into RB's hands.

Lewis could really make the difference to Ferrari if he gets his eye in. He knows how to win.

Out of interest what makes you think this? I can't think of him as anything other than a multi world champion, seems to have a killer instinct that outside of Verstappen most of the grid don't have (not sure if Lewis and Fernando really still have this).

Iif their car is as fast as testing suggests I expect the biggest storyline this season will be the wheels totally coming off the Norris/Piastri relationship. I'd be surprised if both are still there next year.

ITS RACE WEEK

Honestly the last few months F1 has been the only thing I’ve been looking forward to, usually football becomes the focal point of the off season but this time around we’ve had the worst of both worlds.

4am start is a tad early but hopefully we get a nice tight race and not the expect McLaren 1-2 and 2 tenths per lap quicker all race.

No impact.

Look what Charles LeClerc did at sauber, Hamilton in his first season against Alonso, Verstappen at Torro Rosso, Schumacher at Jordan, I could go on.

He's a solid driver, but Lando is quicker. When the field is this close you've got to be quick to win. It's not like the 80's where you can win the championship coming second every race.

Ultimately I think Lando is a better qualifier if not a better racer than Piastri. For that reason I'd have him winning out of those two more often than not.

Plus with the responsibility and pressure of being the favourite for World Champion then it could well make Lando more determined than ever.

Been watching Drive To Survive and I like Liam Lawson. Doesn't put up with any bullying on track and is clearly fast. I expect him to give Max a better run for his money than Checo did last year

I hadn't thought about it like that, interesting comparison. Piastri has been impressive on Sundays rather than Saturday. Quali performance has been one very sided with Norris clearly quicker over a single lap.

Monza just stood out to me - Norris said on DTS that if he had have expected it he wouldn't have let it happen but if the roles were reversed I am not sure Lando even tries that move. The one on Leclerc at Baku was great too.

Perhaps both need to improve on the part the other is stronger at to be world championship quality.

The FIA and F1 probably glad the season isn't starting this weekend if Melbourne is affected by the storms in Australia.

Storms were literally 1,000 miles away. Monza is closer to Silverstone than Brisbane to Melbourne.
