Didn't realise this, but the Governor of Ontario can also impose tariffs..and has done on exports to US. Imagine a Mayor in the UK enacting tariffs...

Its morel like the first minister of Scotland having the devolved power to do so.

Yes, having troops in surrounding NATO countries coupled with an agreement that should a further invasion occur, it gives the alliance the right to station troops within Ukraine borders would be quite an incentive.

There are already multi country Nato troops in Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

I'm trying my best to ignore the news, because I'm already depressed enough.

Every single bit I see with Trump and/or Elon looks like a skit from Saturday Night Live.

This could go a couple of different ways currently in the US.

It could implode.

Trump has real beef with Canada and Greenland as well. He’ll be trying to take Maxico next.

I agree with analysis that all that actually happened yesterday was Ukraine agreeing that the US could negotiate with Russia on its behalf. Ukraine basically has been strong armed into that over the past few weeks.

Here we go. Very likely a deliberate attack on Britain and America.

The only other thing is that it was on a set course before the American ship anchored and didn’t change from that course, so maybe not.

Wonder if Corbyn's suggested sending him back to the Russians so they can tell us if they did it or not yet?

Great week for Reform

The best bit will be when Lowe and the far-right of Reform split to form another party. Giving Labour the next election on a plate, they are.

Probably accelerate Farage's defection to the Tories.

Nah, they hate each other with a passion.

Pretty predictable. Lowe's very opinionated posts on social media seemed to be gathering quite a big following amongst right wingers, which was always going to annoy Farage. I think the future of the British right is much more Lowe than Farage though.

Surely the big question is whether he can appeal to moderates? Love him or loathe him, Farage has always had a reach outside of the right wing base. It’s likely a limited reach, but he has one nonetheless.

Can Rupert Lowe inspire the centre right to his cause? Or would they just drip back to the Conservatives (or political apathy) without Farage’s charisma and reach?

All this talk of steel tariffs, basically finishes our steel industry if we’re not careful? I think it’s already on its knees isn’t it, trying to reduce energy cost to make it cost effective.

Less than 10% of UK steel exports go to the US, and sounds like it is pretty specialist stuff they might not be able to source elsewhere anyway.

At the moment, Chinese steel is killing almost everywhere else to be honest.
