His biggest asset is he seldom loses the ball, so even if he comes across as lightweight his protection of the ball is impressive.

What saddens me with Alves is the maverick skill has been coached out of him, he still has enough skill to unlock defences but the rabonas and triple nutmegs with pike haven't been seen in senior football since Brendan threatened him 😂

You only have to see what someone like Pep has done to Grealish.

I hardly watch any PL games anymore due to the robotic styles of play.

Genuinely hope you are right.  But let's be honest some of the guys on here suggesting he should have played in the premier league this season are wearing blue tinted roses at least.  The premier league would have totally broken the young lad.

The Prem isnt the aligator pool its made out to be for young players. You don't get the physical attention in the PL and it isn't like there aren't some decent technically gifted kids in the top flight.

Classic example is McAtee at Man City. Looks far better at PL level around better players than he did struggling with Sheff Utd.

He's has been consistently called up for the England squad at u17, u18 and u20 suggest he's highly thought off.

How may have had a career threatening ACL

Yeah and so have 100’s of other players that never work out. Because he’s LCFC academy player and been with us a long time I get why people have there opinion on him but it’s just my opinion of what I’ve seen I don’t think he will be what sole folk on here think he will be. There’s far better players in this country in his positions and at the same age.

That’s a shame isn’t cuz that’s what you want your attackers to be! I hope I’m wrong and I have egg on my face this time next season and he’s been a ray of sunshine in our squad. I just don’t  see us tho unfortunately.

I think it's impossible to predict, I just think we should get behind our youngsters.

I think it's become the norm for City fans to knock down our players, whether they are academy products or more established players like Barnes, Tielemans and Maddisons have got pelters on here, but are very good PL players.

I can tell you one thing Cardiff Fans and Oxford fans would happily see Alves and Nelson sign for the permanently.

Riza's been sacked by Cardiff, probably the owner couldn't understand him hooking Alves either 😁

Be interesting to see what game time Alves gets under Ramsey who's the caretaker manager.

Riza is a very odd manager, never see someone make as many subs at half time.

He's in a struggling side in cardiff. It's a good thing he's getting some game time though and I'd like to see him come back and be given an opportunity to play and then we can see if he's really got what it takes. Him and Mavididi competing for that LW spot

I thought the same. There’s a balance between being proactive and clearly getting his line up so wrong so often from the start that he has to try and make multiple changes so early. Seems like Riza is the latter.

Not sure how I'd feel about him pulling rabonas out whilst recovering from an ACL anyway...

It’s quite unusual to watch a game for the sole purpose of watching one player…. But that’s what I did yesterday.

I’m just not sure this lad is going to live up to the hype he gets here. He looks ok, but several times broke and had to check back as he didn’t have the pace to carry on, a few missed passes etc.

Hopefully it was just a poor example of his play, or I’m just wrong, as he certainly didn’t stand out for me.

Hamza looked ok tbf.

Did you watch Nelson at the same age being at most bang average really in his loans at Doncaster and Rochdale in lower leagues than Alves is playing in now, whilst not also having suffered a very serious injury?

Give him a chance

people forget that dont they, some fully expect Alves to be out there world beating players who have a number of years on him in terms of 1st experience too

says it all really

I guess his lack of pace (even though he’s not “slow”) is why he’s more naturally a 10.

Alves is one of the best players within his age group in this county = he really really isn’t 😂

He’s always been considered one of the best of his age group….. he has just overcome a massive injury, and is performing regularly in senior football….. what exactly is your issue?

I haven’t got an issue, my opinion is that I don’t think he’s all that and I’m entitled to have that opinion. I know he’s had a bad injury which was awful but there are a lot of players in his positions in his age group younger and slightly older that are far better then him.

He’s a talented lad, trust me. Having watched plenty of him at youth level, he was always streets ahead, his injury has set him back, but the quality is still there. Once he has his confidence back, he will be more than good enough.

Haven’t really noticed Alves but Ben Nelson has been bloody class

Not sure Ramsey pushing the LB on helped, sort of took his space.

He would benefit from being in a side that can use the ball better.
