Need to try something different but 3 at the back is the hardest system to play well, in terms of carrying some attacking intent. We'd also either have no pace in the wing backs which completely limits the attacking ability, or in the 3 centre halves and then with our lack of protection in the middle, we'll be even more overrun. And unless Daka  and Mavididi are in, no pace to get in behind.

We're going to concede goals whatever so feels like what we need is the ability to actually turn teams round and face their own goal. Ridiculous to say but Justin is about the only player who does that at the moment and that's a horribly out of form fullback

I’d give this a go:

Souttar and Nelson should be the cb pairing for next season.

Disagree.  Hopefully Sheffield Utd come in and offer us £10mill+ for him and we can get rid.

Imo he’s not been given a chance here. Can’t be worse than the clowns we have at the back currently.

Well I suppose it depends who is in charge, but the game is becoming more about athleticism than ever and we should be learning that sloths don't cope well with the pace of the game.  Vesty was mercurial last season but he's badly exposed in this, and Souttar is only marginally more mobile whilst being worse on the ball.  I'll give him aerial threat though, he's got that.  So whilst Souttar could probably do a job at Champ level, we'd be back to our current position and subsequent problems with him in our defence imo.

Depends also on how we set up. Playing a high line with possibly the slowest cbs in the premiership is asking for trouble.

Sorry, this is not about new CBs signed.

But we ought to try Okoli and Coady now as the CB pairing. They can’t do worst.

Faes is prone to make mistakes game after game and constantly out of position resulting in the need to chase.

Vesty is way too slow and also often out of position.

The two of them don’t complement each other.

Justin has to be dropped. Yes he does pop forward but he is contributing to a lot of our conceded goals this season.

Fix the defence first with what we have to give ourselves even a chance at getting something from each game.

What about a back 3: JJ, Okoli and Coady?

I'd consider Justin as one of 3 CB's with Coulibaly at RWB. A lot of his faults have been from being out of position, too far inside or too far upfield, at CB there would be less chance of that happening and he would bring some pace and mobility to the CB positions.

                                                      Mads

                       Justin                   Coady                         Okoli

Coulibaly                                                                                            Kristiansen

                                            Ndidi               Soumare

                                                      Bilal

                              Daka (or Buanonotte)   Vardy

The wingers are offering nothing so do away with them. Ayew can be an impact sub as a CF, maybe Eduard too. Winks has been sloppy and hiding from responsibility, he can hide on the bench. Skipp can get in one. We HAVE TO try something different :dunno:

I like Facundo as a partner for Vardy. Actually offers a goal threat.

Cracking input.. Could he be much worse than what we have 🤣

Yes, he could, we’ve tried it.
The only thing worse than continuing to play players that are out of form, is to then try to rectify the issue by playing square pegs in round holes.

Worth a try

Don’t want to see Faes ever again in a City Shirt - his attitude on Saturday and his ego far exceeds his ability !

He's never  PL player. Good in the Champ., though

We could have the whole 25 man squad on the pitch and it wouldnt make any difference, we are going to be in the Championship next season so let's plan for that now, this season is over we will be lucky to win another match with the way things are.

Disagree. Our CBs are that shot I'd rather give Junior Lewis a go at CB.

A depressing thought, but only becsuse you're probably right and it shows how far we've fallen.

Nelson was probably Oxford's best player during the period he was playing. He shows great potential - defending good but his ability to move forward with the ball is even better - he should be fit from mid March onwards - unclear whether he gets to play as Oxford signed a new centre back - essentially because of his absence as I understand. Souttar was shown he is, at the very least, a good Championship player.

If this meant selling Osoli, Faes I would be happy with that - provided funds used properly (not sure of this under Rudkin at al),
