Discord: Organisation?

Bearing in mind and respecting the publicity and rules of this forum; wonder if we create a Discord for some better organisation to  (legally) oppose our ownership, without being in the eye of whoever wants to browse here from the club.

 

Mods, please don't delete; this isn't an advertisement. 

 

If there is something that already exists then I don't want to step on that, and I'm in no means wanting to lead anything, just that we might want to create a more internal space to work together. Half expecting people to tell me to fook off but there we have it

This conversation has been had before and in the end decided against. Partly due to a lack of interest and partly due to concerns it'd split the activity and end up with two watered down, lesser pools of conversation. 

 

I don't think Mark was super happy with having any "official" foxestalk discord, which I understand, this place can be wild West enough to moderate. Discord is whole other levels, especially when you keep in mind that Mark gets chased by everyone from The Athletic to the club over what gets posted here. 

 

Of course there's nothing to stop any group of people making a discord for whatever reason with whatever shared interests so, naturally, knock yourselves out.

tbf as a discord user myself it would be a decent idea but as you said, its would massively water down one or the other and its not worth the trade off

 

Discord is a good place for general talk etc, but thread etc would go by the way side

If you're genuinely looking to organise to oppose the ownership then messaging Project Reset and doing it under that umbrella is probably the best way to go.

The quality and longevity of this forum, a lot of us have been on here for over 20 years, is remarkable in terms of online survival.

the only other way to explain it is like a big version of MSN messenger etc

 

dont get me wrong its good for what it is, but for a community like foxestalk it wouldnt work at all

Infairness to the OP I think he’s alluding to the purpose of the discord to arrange protests or apply more pressure on the ownership rather than having a general news channel in the discord.

The club chase mark about what's posted on here? In what way? Are we North Korea?

Love Discord for gaming comms & voice chat.. Not so much as a 'forum' especially an established one like FT.

 

Do think it might have its place though, especially for a match thread on VC haha.. That might be interesting  Did actually consider streaming the game for people last time we went down but i'm not sure it would work too well, would gladly volunteer if others were interested.
