Is Keir Starmer a multi-millionaire?

Dunno but he's lost the dressing room, fans and, like an injured player, Burnham get's better the longer he stays out.

He's a dream ticket for opposition parties and Labour's demise will go further and faster than Tory's in 2024. They won't recover within most of our lifetimes.

I agree with your last sentence nonetheless!

I’ve seen a few grim comments from some standing and some elected.
none are for saying something ‘reasonable’ like that

social media means that there are so many skeletons in so many cupboards

It's quite clear what the vile, antisemetic sentiment is behind that phrase. Can't prove it though.

One interesting corollary of the two main parties losing their grip in reasonably quick succession is that perhaps there might be an opportunity for the UK to move away from FPTP as a means of deciding governments.

So it's context then.

Like saying, "I could eat a horse", is fine, but not at Ascot

No, it's nothing like that.

And thus we arrive at the point where how much (or little) people conflate Judaism and Zionism becomes rather key to the discussion.

Of course, this topic has gotten threads like this nixed in the past, and we're 591 (and counting) pages in, so...

I believe the best effort so far was 900-odd pages, but this one is taking a decent second place so far.

He still not resigned yet

I said before he'll stick his fingers in ears and sing la la la and keep carrying on until someone forces him to stop. Ironically it seems he's gone beyond that today and just actively said he's not gonna talk about the election results or his leadership, at all.

Decent tactic all in all I guess.

Standard ministerial behaviour in Britain these days.

it depends what it means to the person shouting it  - there are some who want freedom from occupation for those living in Gaza and the West Bank and some who want a one state democracy and some who want the area rid of Jews.

 it’s a vague chant - you’d assume deliberately so

im sure some will offer other interpretations

so some of that spectrum is antisemitism if it effectively denies the Jewish people’s right to self determination under the IHRA definition

Saying Free Palestine is not vile or antisemitic, sorry.

See above Sunil. Getting some people to be honest about what it means to them would be tricky.

It is when it's shouted in the face of a Jew.

you’d assume if it’s being shouted in the face of a Jew then it’s from one end of that spectrum

Those who say that there is no conflation

again it depends on their Judaism

A 2024–2025 survey by the Institute for Jewish Policy Research (JPR) shows British Jews maintain a strong emotional attachment to Israel (77%), yet hold overwhelmingly critical views of its government, with 76% disapproving of Netanyahu and 74% rating Israel’s overall situation as "bad" or "very bad"

So the vast majority of British Jews are zionists but have no truck with the current govt.

I think that an big issue here is that the term Zionist has been bastardised over the past few years from its definition that Jews are entitled to self determination and a state in their ancestral homeland.

No, i think its more for calling Jewish people cockroaches, Holocaust denying and saying Jewish people were behind October 7th 😂. The Green party isnt just the tree huggers it used to be unfortunately

I absolutely agree that the whole meaning and debate is subjective and it's therefore likely best for no one to make objective claims about it.
