Not sure if that is satire or not? He's a complete 🤡, he can't even follow this basic conversation, it's an extremely basic point and it's completely over his head – and he's the energy secretary.

You've just described Wes Streeting.  EM is a joker I'm afraid, how you've highlighted a decent communicator as his strength is presumably satire.

Turning into a bit of an echo chamber in here fellas, don't you think?

Bit too complex for a Foxes Talk forum post but basically energy is sold off at the rate of the highest bidder. So if 98% of energy one day is from wind turbines and costs £2 per megawatt, and the remaining 2% needed comes from firing up a gas turbine for £200 a megawatt, everyone is paid £200 a megawatt, which means consumers are paying far more than is needed.

*made up figures etc. just an example

Got it, thank you.

That does seem wildly unnecessary, yes.

I know my workplace is suffering at the moment and my boss puts it squarely at the labour parties door. The NI thingy has crippled him (thats with a workforce of around 8 full time and 20 part time). He is having to cut hours massively. Even though he knows i voted labour my hours being head chef are secure thankfully. Guess 27 years proves my loyalty.

But it just goes to show how quickly things can change. Always thought my workplace would be there forever. As it has been in the family from my bosses grandad. It was only 15years ago he was paying us double time to work 90 odd hours a week from november till just after xmas.

Just hit home today as i said ive finished and looked for him to say see you tomorrow and hes locked in talks with the bank manager and our accountant. Sorry for the rant just needed to get it off my chest and think some of the things ive said relate to some recent posts on here.

I mean TBF it's not that complex, bit I massively oversimplified it. Maybe I should have put "I can't be arsed to type more than 3 lines".

This is also well worth a watch

Can you elaborate on this some?

I'm interested in hearing more about the economic arguments because AFAIC the only such argument that really matters on this particular issue is "invest now or pay much, much more later, in more than money".

This explains really well how utterly bonkers our current model is.

Good video. Helped a dummy like me understand more. Just wish it wasnt presented by someone who i thought was going to crack a joke at any second. Was kind of waiting for the punchline. However for an illiterate fool like me it was very interesting. Thank you.

Bit of both, I think.

Also, I think what also matters here is intent. China are clearly directing a lot of effort into clean energy initiatives and it is obvious that they also intend to continue doing so until the job is done, whatever that takes, because they know that whatever the cost, the cost of inaction is higher. Something other nations might learn from them.

I don’t think Xi Jinping is some kind of environmental messiah, truth is that it’s lucrative for China because the global majority trust them more than any other major nation or bloc (EU). Look how many of our solar panels come from China too. They simply know how to get stuff done, cheaply, even if that’s unethically, while mostly following science which is a very low bar.

Pretty much agree here, I'll just add that though the bar is low, it seems to be too high for quite a few leading global players at the present time who seem all too happy to bring on the global consequences of increasing average temperatures.

I've always wondered.... Is he the 11th Jinping to rule China?

It may be naive of me but I would love if all English people of all colours and creed etc etc could be comfortable and happy  to see the English flag in all situations. The same goes for all British people regarding the Union flag. It seems OK for other flags to be shown and tolerance is expected and no questions asked as to the motives.

🙄🙄

I don't sit well with what Jenerick said, but Badenoch's response was shallow and weak.

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said she did not know the context of the recording but that Jenrick may have been "making an observation" about his visit to the area.

"I heard that one of the MPs of that area was accusing him of racism. I completely disagree with that, I want to make that very clear," she told BBC Breakfast.

I wonder what her response would have been if a Labour MP had said the same?

He’s cosplaying Enoch Powell except he doesn’t have authenticity unlike Enoch (I listened to yesterdays rest is history episode). An utterly pathetic man.

The guy is a pillock, but I didn't see anything racist from what he's reported to have said. Just devalues the word even more when people throw it around a synonym for general distain of someone.

Carney visiting the WH today, apparently.

Hope he demonstrates the same attitude towards Felon#47 as the average Canada goose would.
