And that is merely the latest move in a series of events that have been rolling since the 1950s and before and in which several players, including the UK, have played their part. Perhaps it's time to change the rules a bit?

 

I agree that it's rather discomforting to not take a stand against a nation that brutalises it's own citizens, but, as has been said before, if the UK is going to operate on that standard then they're going to have a pretty long list to check off or simply appear as maliciously hypocritical as the Americans are. 

 

And yes, so long as the current American government and its attitude towards any nation that doesn't follow it's manner of Social Darwinist sociopathy continues, the question of any kind of alliance including hosting bases, should be raised.

And economic responsibility on quite a few other matters, as well. 

 

But then in this case it appears to be a matter of no good choices, only bad ones - either continue being the poodle, with all the consequences that entails, or seek further independence and different alliances in that and other regards, with all the consequences that entails.

There was a tweet issued 20 hours ago by one of these global news sites (just rehashing other stuff I think) which actually stated that US intelligence had identified RAF Fairford as being subject to a threat 

now that’s not really news because Iran literally did that in July 

but it’s crazy that this was tweeted at 23:18 at the very time that these three vans were en route

Yes there were some suspicious vans around the base late at night apparently and the locals raised the alarm .
