Because we have fans saying this guys not good enough to replace Luke Thomas whilst he’s in a team beating Atalanta and the other terrible option vk finished in the top 4 with bologna. Is it just worse than the championship or something? I think a lot of us look upon Serie A like it was in the 90s! The great Parma, Juventus, Milan, Inter, Roma etc They aren’t the force they once were. I think we all berate the Championship but the truth is, it might be a better standard than most give it credit for. Another example is Lookman, looked steady for us. Tore Serie A apart. Loads of them though, Aquilani, Robinho, Kezman, Okaka. Then we have the likes of Okoli, Kristiansen etc

Doh! Got my Chelsea strikers mixed up! I was thinking of Mutu. Robinho was just a myth of a player in all honesty. A bit like Denilison or whatever his name was that went to Betis. Okaka must have played for half the teams in Serie A + Watford. 1
Popular Post moore_94 Posted 3 March Author Popular Post Posted 3 March Todays Results - Tuesday 3rd March League Two: Sammy Braybrooke (7.2 + 1 assist - 90 mins) - Chesterfield 3-0 Colchester United Nathan Opoku (6.1 - 30 mins) - Newport County 3-1 Tranmere Rovers National League: Chris Popov (1 goal - 87 mins) - Morecambe 3-2 Wealdstone 4 3
Rubbersoul Posted 4 March Posted 4 March 7 goals & 3 assists in 10 games for a side scrapping at the bottom is some going. If we do end up getting relegated is Popov someone worth keeping around? Still only 21.
FoxSince88 Posted 4 March Posted 4 March I recall popov being on fire 3-4 years ago possibly longer and then he had a bad injury that interrupted his development so he’s around 18months behind where he should be I guess.
lcfc sheff Posted 4 March Posted 4 March Pretty sure his contract runs out this summer unless we hold an option. 2

You’re cornrect; but we’ve loaned players to the NL previously never to be heard of again. He’s showing a great attitude in his general play to alongside his goals assists and thats more than half the battle. 1

My point was more if we end up in League One and god knows from there. Im not suggesting we bring him back to lead the line in the Championship. Although he’d be an upgrade on Ayew.

Whole point of the academy if they arent good enough for the first team

Very true But Vardy was playing at the same level and 3 season later was playing in the PL. So people can at time make the step up.

We have played Jordan Ayew regularly this season. Popov can only prove himself at the level he's playing at and can't be worse than Ayew. 1
Rubbersoul Posted 4 March Posted 4 March EFL trophy semi final today. Should be on Sky. Northampton away at Luton. I reckon there’s a good chance Evans starts this if anyone wants a game to watch 1

To expand on my earlier post there’s a good chance we’re in league one next season, plus by the summer we’ll have zero strikers at the club with potentially no money to spend. Might be that Popov is someone we keep around if things are super desperate. Pure speculation though 3

I'm not necessarily sure that he would come into the team at this point and be an upgrade on Ayew in the truest sense. Time will tell.
