Marc Cucurella. Everyone hates him but he's a very good full back.

He looks like he’d turn up on a stag weekend, try to be everyone’s best mate and act like a knob.

At chelsea in the cup it made me smile he was getting the "wnaker, wnaker" shouts from our end and hamza looked up and gave us a sly clap.  Anyone else notice that ? 😂

My brother absolutely despised Antony Knockeart and still stands by it to this day, to the point he'd join in with the chants yelling "PLEASE SELL KNOCKEART" - despite all his memorable moments for us. That one good enough for ya? lol:knockyhat:

For me, a player that got on my tits at the time was Paul Gallagher. Frustrating, powderpuff twat who could get outmuscled by a light breeze, but my god he was good at set pieces. So he's one of those where you spend 80 minutes groaning every time he touches the ball, then the next minute you're cheering and singing his name like it never happened after he scores a 30 yard belter.  He also has vocal credits on Jersey Budd's "When You're Smiling" and I thought his face in the studio with those headphones on looked punchable, so I'm reminded of my love-hate relationship before kick-off every game. lol

Is there a way you can legally remove somebody as you brother? Might want to look into it if that's the quality of his judgement :D

First name that came to mind for me is Steve Howard. I thought he was an over the hill cart horse when we signed him. And from Derby of all places. I couldn’t stand seeing him being picked and back in the days I used to go to games regularly I once activated the boos when his name was read out only to be told to shut up by an old dear close by.

I ended up eating my words, he did a great job for us and I’ll never forget celebrating that Leeds 1-0 in the kop.

Back at the horse and trumpet in Wigston it got rewound and played a good 5 or 6 times in a row with every instance being celebrated like it was the first time we’d seen the ball hit the net. I rate him for that day alone.

Also a special mention NFP’s phantom header in the replays.

Surprised no-one's mentioned Kermorgant yet. He was decent.

On a serious note, Simpson is a great shout.

There are a few examples of players who've messed up off the pitch like Hamza, Collymore, W. Brown.

Neil Lennon is a player I never took to and I've found him dislikeable since he went to Celtic, but he was obviously a great player for us.

From the same era, thought hard about Oakley, but decided I never really rated him

We all have different experiences of players but my experience of neil lennon was that he was class on and off the pitch.  I bumped into him in brannigans one night and i suppose we were both pi55ed but he spent a good half hour chatting to me on the level, not like a star and a fan.  Even bought me a drink.   For me it spoke volumes about the man.

Got a feeling Cottee qualified based on my personal feelings about our cockney friends at that time!

What is your problem with cockneys as a matter of interest?

No problems nowadays, not a sniff. Back then as a younger man I carried a bigger chip on my narrower shoulders. Like many "northerners", probably comes from an in-baked inferiority complex!

Why is this question so hard to answer?!

Reckon it's because unless you're weird it's *hard* to dislike someone you don't really know, and even harder to be reluctant to rate them in the context of doing well for your team!

So the reasons fall into the "genuine" (e.g. lack of effort, not making the most of ability/chances, wanting out, criminality) and the utter BS (jealously, rivalry, subconscious bias)!

And they have to actually be good!

A friend of mine was a Tigers fan and he got me a ticket to some match I can't remember for the life of me. I spent the first half bored and then Lennon and possibly Savage brought the League Cup out at half time to a luke warm round of applause from the Tigers supporters. I was going mad and cheering my head off.

Then I went for a burger and Lennon and possibly Savage were stood there also tucking into their burgers. Stood and spoke to them for a while and I remember Lennon in particular was a really sound guy.

Cheers. Funny I have a foot in both camps so to speak as London born of a cockney dad and a Geordie mum. As a result I've enjoyed the north south divide rather than be bothered by it and support a club from the Midlands!

I reckon Wes Morgan would've had a fair few critics when we signed him.

Yeah, but we all kind of knew he was good! And he was obviously a nice chap from day one! No issue supporting Wes

Alan Rodgers on the other hand would definitely qualify, but never rated him haha

Maddison is a good player but cannot decide whether he is a refreshing speaker in public or peak irritating modern footballer.
