Seeing Filbert Street torn down in 2003 felt like losing a part of the club’s soul. It was home from 1891–2002, a place packed with history and emotion. Though the bricks went, the chants, goals and memories live on in every Leicester fan who stood there.

Horrible ain’t it

Yeah, awful. Worse away day for me now which is a shame as I loved Upton Park.

But back to the general point. It's sad to pass places where grounds once stood. I like Arsenal's idea of leaving Highbury intact but making them into flats.

I wouldn't recover from it if I were a West Ham fan. Their new place is horrible, not even a football ground.

Literally one of the worst places i have ever been to watch sport.

Even the walk up to it feels sterile. Gone are the terraced houses, characterful pubs and pie & mash shops. Instead you walk through a Westfield surrounded by soulless chain restaurants. Dire.

Well depends which way you walk

22 years later and most of where the ground stood is still an eyesore to this day, mounds of earth and overgrown grass.

Does anyone know what's planned for this land (if anything) or who owns it?

Ideally a community hub should be built which can be opened up on match days for beers for adults and activities for the kids rather than outdoors, while offering activities for schools and people in the local community on non match days. But that would be far too simple.

Do the club own that land?

Have a feeling now we have the make-shift fan zone opposite the fanstore that they wouldn't consider this now.

The club will always be ****ing idiotic for not retaining anything from Filbert Street.

The historic 1920s Members' Stand turnstyles should absolutely have been kept and repurposed somehow - even if it formed part of the grounds around the KP.

Pretty sure someone from the developers of the Filbo flats came on here years ago asking if anyone had any information as to its location as they wanted to incorporate it into the redeveloped site.

Instead it was just lost. Bonkers the club don't know what happened to it.

Yeah it's scandalous parts were not kept or moved over.

The owners of the site have the old entrance in storage, its part of the planning application.

Are you sure they actually managed to find it?

They were genuinely making posts on here asking on here for information on its whereabouts a few years ago.

If so, **** the flat development IMO, the club should be doing everything to get their hands on it to incorporate it into the KP expansion plans - if it happens.

It's an important piece of our heritage and the club could be doing more acknowledgement of our history before 2010.

Could have just sat it in front of the new ground, similar to what Middlesbrough did.

I just don't believe that.

Its on the planning application.

If they don't own it then they will need to submit a minor amendment. I suspect that would be waived through as long as they re-created the look on the drawings.

In which case it'll be a replica.

They said on here they would try to recreate it if the original couldn't be found, which I assume it couldn't.

Its a disgrace how that area has been left with literally nothing about the old ground.

The newer application does confirm it will be a copy. I think the original one said they were re-siting the original.
