Saw the below article about the first Brit joining these drug games and another about a swimming WR being "broken" and thought it was quite interesting.

Ultimately I don't see it being successful. I feel like most people are probably less interested in who is the best with whatever concoction of drugs they have available to them, than they are in clean games. Even if there will always be questions.

More than anything though for me it seems murky from a health perspective. Won't be long until someone hurts themself, although you could perhaps argue that plenty of elite athletes hurt/punish their bodies in some capacity simply by competing in normal competitions.

I'm interested to see how big of a gap the enhanced games can get ahead of clean sport. Always wondered how fast a man can really run or swim.

It's grim. There's been elite cyclists dying in their sleep from their doped up blood congealing.

Risk is on the competitors and they'll push things too far. Also, if people don't suffer ill health in the competition, it could normalise this and make it more common in professional and amateur sport.

Seems like madness to me and why would anyone be interested

It’s such a shame this

One of the few sports me and the Mrs share a real interest in and attend events where possible.

Ben Proud ffs what are you doing?

It can only be money and a realisation that they can’t compete at the top level anymore

Sadly Ben is doing it for the money as some other guy broke a record this year and got $1m for it, and as he's 30, he'll probably be too old to get a gold in LA.

Shame indeed, personally worrying for him if it involves drug enhancement.

From knowledge, what he will get paid if he wins the race will be similar amount to winning 12 championship medals (I assume including yearly swim comps/olympic wins) there is not a lot of money in swimming.

800k will set him and his family up for life - do you blame him? arguably it is a much more level playing field than the clean olympics, look at the Russian drug scandal that was state funded, Chinese swimming team being done for doping and that’s just two off the top of my head.

people will also see it as more entertaining as it is the unknown. A bit like Jake Paul facing Gervonta Davis will pull in millions of viewers, Las Vegas lights etc. has a similar feeling to when Liv golf started up.

Yes, of course there is the health aspect to be considered, I imagine they will have a very good doctor on hand to assess bloods etc. we aren’t looking at a bodybuilder sticking needles into themselves down the local gym

they know the risks. They know their gold medal won’t stack up against a clean athlete, I also don’t get the moral argument due to the amount of doping that takes place in the clean Olympics, and other sports for that matter.
