Have to be realistically monitoring Daniel Farke at Leeds. He has his limitations in the premier league but is a proven manager for the Championship. Marti has to go, we are sleep walking towards the relegation places with him in charge.

Can't we stop looking for short-term solutions and patch-ups?

I was just wondering what people think about Parker?

I know he's still in a job, but as with Farke they could get trigger happy with them in the bottom 3.  And with the likes of Farke and Parker (!) in the positions they're in, is it possible that we're just waiting on one of them to get the boot?

Why do you think Farke would be short term or a patch up?

Not sure sacking Marti will solve anything .. the structure of the club is in a poor state .... the playing staff show no interest or desire... during the next transfer window we need to off load a good few ..Marti is only part of the problem.... not all of it

Because if you get to the PL you have to replace him, or you get relegated.

Ok, so someone suggests a manager with a proven record of promotion from the championship, and is shot down.  So presumably then we're looking for managers with a track record of getting promoted to the premier league and keeping them there. Like Cooper for example.  So what names can we throw out then?

even if he is only part of the problem, it is still a part we can change now, and it needs doing. We are sleep walking into relegation if we don't at least try something different.

I would take him if he was available

3 promotions and his sides usually have one of the best defensive records in the Championship so he knows how to setup a defence properly

Yes to Parker, although can't see either taking on this circus.

Personally I'd just discard names - like Farke - whom you know to be short term solutions. There are hundreds of managers, including some who have struggled upon promotion, who might be able to get things right if they ever got there again (which is obviously our aim). It's not imperative to appoint someone who has won promotion to the PL and stayed up, but rather - if we do make a change - to appoint someone with a better record than Cifuentes'. And that really isn't hard, because his record isn't great at any level. You can find people with more success at their respective levels than Cifuentes. And Martin.

The problem with Farke, to a far greater degree than most others who might tick the boxes, is that he is an absolute sure-fire disaster beyond promotion. Staying up after winning promotion under him requires a change at some point and, therefore, another major shift. We got that after Enzo walked out, and I think it would be extremely unwise to do anything to encourage a repeat.

What, why?

Personally think he did a very good job at Blackburn in the championship. Was impressed by them when we were last in the league and think it was harsh for him to get the boot from Sweden after 4 games considering Isak carries them and spent the whole of pre-season holding out for a move and was unfit during his tenure.

It does strike me that the defence is really what we need to sort and pronto

solid defence and hard to beat should be the immediate requirement of any new manager

Our short term reactive approach would definitely see us going for Farke if he becomes available.

With where we are currently and how shit we are I wouldn’t be surprised if we tried to get Gerrard.
A big name with something to prove and the hope he has the same impact as Lampard has had at Cov.
