It’s basically financial. They are essentially  saying they can’t risk the possibility of not selling it and lose money they have to give Wednesday for all the tickets.

It’s a stark reminder of how bad our finances are.

Wednesday are being shite about it too mind. Very black and white thinking from them.

Yep, apparently the club are wary of the financial outlay if the further allocation in the lower tier doesn't fully sell out. Given the initial allocation didn't reach members, it's hard to believe this would be the case. It's understandable though why Wednesday would want Leicester to take the hit with their own situation in mind.

People really need to stop giving LCFC money. They actively hate their own fans.

It's because Pol Top and the regime don't like those critical and want to spite the fans.

BRILLIANT STUFF

so I’ve just called Sheffield Wednesday ticket brilliant person I spoke to compared to Leicester either way we have took the lower tier and we should be selling them in a round 2 days (this is according to man at Wednesday)

So do you reckon that’s actually gonna go ahead?

For those looking at getting tickets in the home end, it’s probably best to hang fire for now as it sounds like the lower tier could be opened up in the next few days.

I wonder ......or do I?......if this is a direct action due to the amount of fans calling both clubs and showing their discontent at the shambles LCFC  have become when it comes to ticketing and fan engagement.

Although I'm sorted for this game I seriously hope common sense prevails here and every fan who can and wants to attend be allowed to get a ticket.

God knows we need to get behind the team for this one and, as I've always found, when tickets get down to members the atmospheres are the best.

It's disgraceful that this sold out before it even got to members & we have refused the option of extra tickets, there were probably still season ticket holders that would have liked to buy tickets.

Our club really is the pits now, they seem to want to do anything to antagonise supporters. The customer relations is absolutely awful

It’s just so nonsensical all round. You’d have thought in their position, Wednesday would just be happy to sell as many tickets as possible and you’d think we’d want as many fans there as possible to back the team in a crucial game.

Seems like Wednesday are being greedy and want all tickets purchased and paid for up front, and we’re being stubborn and won’t do that through fear we won’t sell them (I think we would for what it’s worth).

Can see why the clubs are 22nd and 24th… awful management of this situation.

Is paying upfront not just standard practise across football though.

I believe so

Presumably opening the lower tier incurs extra costs for SWFC - extra stewarding, catering etc. So it's reasonable for the away club to pay for the tickets they need. Any unsold are at the risk of the visitors?

Yes, but often they will do it a couple of blocks at a time so the outlay (and potential loss) is minimal.

It seems Sheff Weds have said "the whole of the lower, or nothing".

Still daft that it may have taken fan pressure to trigger a decision.

I'm sure we'll sell another thousand with it being an easy one to get to and on a bank holiday.

I see there are 15 of the upper tier tickets back on sale now.

Wednesday are being run by administrators who have a legal duty to protect the finances of the business,  there is a cost to opening up a new part of the ground so they need to be able to ensure that they will at least recoup those costs.  Leicester will have a very good idea how many more tickets they are likley to sell (and I very much doubt it is more than a few hundred) as they have plenty of data to work on and they to won't want to be losing money as they are committed to not further breaching FFP rules. It is for sure a balancing act,  but hopefully they can by negotiation come up with a solution that suits both parties.

Yeh, but like decisions our club makes, the excuse of sticking to standard practice doesn't wash. Sheff wed can accept some cash for the a percentage of the tickets being sold, or leave the entire block empty and collect no cash.

If our club were being as incompetent as Sheff Wed in this case, they would rightly get stick

Having read the comments on here on those who have rang Wednesday it seems to me like only one club is being incomponent, and that aint them.
