A sad story, but he was another one of Taylor's flops.

 

On the few occasions he was fit enough to play he was just average.   The Oliver Skipp of his day.

The injuries finished him but I thought he did really well for us at the start, which admittedly didn't last very long.

my memory is hazy but i remember Jones being decent, but obviously injury prone.

 

still represents terrible business, realistically we were unlikely to replace Lennon like for like in terms of ability but we made many poor signings in this era !

bit unfair to call him sicknote & shite.
He hadn't been there long when he got an ACL then not long back after that he gets a prolapsed disc, both done during strong tackles, which ultimately ended his career at just 23.
So 2 major injuries in a time when treatment facilities weren't what they are today & hardly pulling up with constant hamstring, calf, groin or metatarsal injuries. 
As for being shite you could tell he had something about him prior to the ACL but i guess if you don't play you're shite

Completely agree. Looked like a great signing. Very unlucky with the injuries. One of those where you feel sorry for him.

I don’t think you can dismiss the player as shite when his career ended at 23. 
 

Big shoes to fill in Neil Lennon’s role, desperately unlucky with injuries, seem to recall him scoring and doing a backflip celebration and hurting himself in the process. Honest lad, more than you can say for this current lot.

Overrated bang average player who liked to big himself up.

 

I vividly remember him taking the plaudits, doing a sort of lap of honour round the Filbert Street pitch after his debut vs Charlton. He did play well in that game but never ever reached those heights again.

Loved my Mum spending half her Benefits on clapping this Leeds reject onto the pitch after breaking his leg.

 

I found all the programmes from this era in my loft. Savage, ROWETT, Lee Marshall, Izzet (transfer request), Taggart (drunk).

 

Fast forward twenty years and they're even more unlikeable.
