It's been a bumpy start (to be kind) which was probably not out of the question given the trajectory of the club, the cultural problems and the biggest playing staff turnover in recent years. We do not have the money to sack him BUT, our value as a club will be plummeting, so there are some considerations around that Yesterday was a disaster, no question. But, I would say that it's just one game of football. There had been some encouraging signs and that could be measured in the mood on this forum with, dare I say it, some optimism creeping in. Losing one game of football 4-0 isn't as bad as losing 4 games 1-0. We scored 0 out of 3 yesterday and whether we lose 1-0, 4-0 or 9-7 it's still "just" 3 points dropped. Whoever the manager is, we will lose again this season and drop points. I don't see him going anywhere for at least 10 games, and if we win 5 or 6 of those, he's here until Xmas at least. 1

Tuna Posted 6 September Posted 6 September Remember we always keep managers on for one game too long and then waste the next few on a fruitless caretaker. Should already be putting feelers out for a replacement.

How any genuine Leicester fan isn't furious with this situation is beyond me 10

He will eventually blame the fans. I give it another defeat or two before the “negative atmosphere” is to blame and not his crackpot tactics or lack thereof. He's a Guru of one thing and one thing only, Bullshit. 1
Happy Fox Posted 6 September Posted 6 September @nnfox what are you smoking? One game of football do you honestly see us improving under Martin ball? 5 points from 5 games is paltry, and not f**king good enough. 1

One game of football against a side under a transfer embargo. Who have had to sell/release/loan 18 players. They have signed two youngsters 18 & 20 on loan, who are being paid by their parent clubs because Oxford aren’t allowed to pay for any new players. Fkd by the EFL, how strange! They are playing under a new manager Aaron Ramsey, who previously managed Cardiff as caretaker manager for 3 games at the end of their 24-25 season. One game of football where four goals were conceded, could’ve been more. Where some fans blamed the referee for the first goal, that was then followed by a second, third and fourth goal! They had an 18, 19, 20 & 21 year olds playing so don’t bitch about Martin playing youngsters. They were a team, they fought and defended as a team. Martins tactics, style and selections were responsible for this loss. 4

Can anybody really see us winning 5 or 6 of the next 10 matches? I said before the Plymouth games 7 points out of the 3 matches against Argyle, Oxon and Stockport required. So far only three points another defeat or even a lucky draw at County will not be acceptable.

Our next 5 games I can see us Getting 5 point at best which is the same as our first 5 so regardless I don’t see things improving under Martin. Stockport (a) - Loss Barnsley (a) - Draw at best Wigan (h) - A game we need to win but will just be a draw. Blackpool (a) - Loss Peterborough (h) - Win 1

But its baffling how noone genuinely thought in this Division you wouldn't need physicality and directness in your side. This is the reason that “commendable transfer window” thread really grates on me. We’ve got too many players of the same ilk with no athletic players other than JJ/Aluko and potentially McFarlane! Awfully Put together squad with money wasted on Martin’s mates too.
David Hankey Posted 6 September Posted 6 September I wonder sometimes why we got rid of Ranieri and Rodgers and would we be in this mess now? As I've said many times before; "be careful what you wish for". 2
foxy tiler Posted 6 September Posted 6 September I think the squad under any other manager would perform far more to expectations. Martin was never wanted here and his philosophy isn't suited to L1 relegation fight. Im all for giving the manager a chance but not this time. In my opinion should never have been appointed. 3

Cooper was only here for a few months but that transfer window (skipp, bobby & ayew) has haunted us for 3 yrs. Martin will get sacked, but we're lumbered with Cullen, Chaplan, Burns and McCarthy. 1 1
TonyN11 Posted 6 September Posted 6 September Aaron is right, give the guy a chance...'til Easter, I would suggest
Silver-surfer967 Posted 6 September Posted 6 September We are big fat target for those players in league one that haven’t made it to premier league level , and see us as a scalp to show their friends and family and to themselves they are the business and beat a ex premier league winner . We are a big fat target, which we need to adjust to asap .

I know football has a high turnover and managers get sacked but surely that Martin had been in a results slump both at both Rangers and Southampton with stark embarrassing results should have been enough. The single promotion season was a dim and distant memory The same thought process that resulted in the promotion of a director of football who had overseen three relegations in four seasons. 4 hours ago, RoboFox said: A reminder that this lad has won THREE league games since May 2024. He spaffed all that money on the squad in the summer of 2021 then bitched he wasn’t being backed when we couldn’t afford to spend on the rebuilt he needed in the summer of 2022 - as the result of his own failures. He was talking himself out of a job and needed to be sacked much sooner. Just look at his second Celtic spell - basically a carbon copy - the difference is Celtic acted much sooner after he started slagging them off in public. 1

Martin’s football is suited to one place: the bin. The comparisons in this thread with Maresca are laughable, and mentioning Martin in the same sentence as Pep is borderline offensive. Beyond hoarding possession through pointless passes across the back, there’s nothing remotely similar. There’s no tactical intelligence behind his philosophy’ and no ability to adapt. Time and again, managers with far inferior squads have worked him out, outplayed him and made his supposed philosophy look exactly what it is: complete dogshite 4

LCFCCHRIS Posted 6 September Posted 6 September I am guilty myself of praising some aspects of the play, but when you look at it properly, its ONLY style over substance. What's the difference between us spending 2 minutes and risking calamity at the back to beat their press? When they could beat ours by just playing one long ball or a through ball to their wing? We've got good enough players to compete comfortably in this league, but that's assuming we play in a manner that the other teams do, in a more conventional pragmatic way. The system is hampering us completely. I don't honestly put an ounce of blame on a single player from yesterday. This is 100% on the system and thats coming from someone desperate for us to have success under Martin or anyone else.

fleckneymike Posted 6 September Posted 6 September How the **** is he still in a job? He doesn’t need 10 games to prove he’s an arrogant talentless ****.
