Finally, for now, as Evans walked off down the touchline in front of a standing ovation from the fans, I couldn't help but think I was looking at a player that will be getting that from much larger fanbases, in much larger stadia, in a few years time. The kid is special and then some. Messi-esque, the way he took the ball around their defence from wide and got into the area, and not to mention the goal...

I know a few really wanted Evans to stay and be around the first team - but for the talent he has, he really should be playing week in week out. It’s a great loan for him, and fair play to the lad he’s made an instant impact.

 

My worry is he gets another loan after January, as we are settled on Howell and Burns this season at RW, and then next year, if we go up, we look for another RW with Burns as backup

I think you are looking a bit too far ahead, worry about all that next summer!

There is a reason he signed a 3 year contract before he went on loan. I think it just down to not have a 25 man squad of kids in a clogger league. 

 

He has a big future here.

It's good for the club if they do well. Skipps book value will be £10m in a year, a good season for Charlton and someone will pay that.

Full season on loan starting every week is great for his development. Look at Braybrooke and Joseph now

Evans either ends up on loan in L1 in Jan or with us depending on how our lot work out and injuries. Think he is a year or two(depending on promotion) from breaking the first team fully

The need for reinforcement on the left side of the defense is also linked to the condition of Viktor Christiansen. The Dane is following a special program and is expected to return to competitive rhythm in mid-October.

Leicester City youngster Jake Evans has been tipped to go on to big things in his career after hitting the ground running at Cheltenham Town, according to someone that has worked with him for years.

Evans joined the League Two side on a season-long loan last month after spending the second half of last term with Northampton Town. The 18-year-old has scored three goals and provided another assist in four games for the Robins, including a brace in Tuesday night's win over York City.

He is one of the most-exciting players in City's academy and has already made four appearances for the Foxes' first-team. According to Dan Holman, who scored 16 goals in his first 18 games for Cheltenham a decade ago, runs Goalman Football and specialises in individual training with forwards, the sky's the limit for the 18-year-old.


The former striker has worked with Evans since he was just 13 and played a part in his move to Whaddon Road this summer. Speaking to GloucestershireLive, Holman, who has also worked with Louis Page, said: "I'd just finished playing at Torquay and I was doing some sessions on a local club's pitch in Northampton and Jake's dad was training," Holman said.

"I knew him anyway and he jogged over to me and asked me about coaching, seeing if he could get his lad in, saying 'he's decent, he plays for Leicester'. I was only starting out with eight, nine and 10-year-olds, but next week Jake rocked up looking like a little Wayne Rooney, a 13-year-old beast!

"So I said 'let's go' and he was great from day one, with that left foot wand. We connected well and have been working ever since. He still comes for sessions when it's right around his schedule and we do some work weekly online together around the other parts of his game as well, including mindset.


"He's a great player and lad, who just has to keep producing and the sky's the limit for him."

Steve Cotterill heaped praise on Evans after his brace against York. "Now everyone knows why I wanted him," he said. "If anyone was wondering about him only being 17 when he signed...he's 18 now anyway.

"He's just a great lad. I tried to get him last year and I am glad I didn't really because if I'd have got him last year, we might not have got him this year. We would only have had him for a shorter period of time. For me, I am delighted we got him here. I love him, he's a great kid.

"His mum and dad absolutely cherish him. I still remember the Zoom call I had with him, his mum and dad and you can see how much they are rooting for him. The kids has no airs and graces, he is down to earth and a brilliant lad. He is a right tough cookie as well. I love all of those traits about him and you know what, he isn't a bad player either."

Cotterill is a great manager for him to develop under. 
 

Cheltenham are probably a good club to send our youngsters to. Callum Wright did really well there a few years ago

Weekend watch.

Again 2 of the 3 Kick offs clash with our own.

 

Kicks off with record signing Goldings Shrewsbury away to Fleetwood in a 12.30 kick off.

Followed at 3 by Cheltenham hosting Grimsby (Evans/Otchere) and Northampton vs Newport County (Briggs).

 

These are the ones we like.

 

Then there's Skipp/Charlton 12.30 vs Stoke.

Mavididn't he? Watford vs WBA at 3.

seemed to shift to no.10 in second half or at least looked to come inside more, seems a better fit in that position as not sure he has the burners to be a winger (not saying he’s slow) 

Still a good chance he develops more pace and acceleration has time on that front physical development wise.

I like when compilations show players attempting a pass that doesn’t come off. 
 

Most of the time these highlight reels only show goals, assists & take ons etc which is great but it’s good to see the stuff that doesn’t always work but that they’re getting into these positions to try it
