England vs Argentina - Weds 15th July - 20.00 (BST)

My worry is who is going to step up if Kane or Bellingham don't score. For all his good work, Gordon never looks like scoring and Madueke has zero composure, Saka is a goal threat but doesn't seem at his best.

You'd argue Nico O'Reilly has looked the most likely from left back.

Day off for me today and tomorrow. The 1 year old seems to have treated me to a lie in. Time for a day of absolute nerves, shouting how I hate football through the match and then a light night commiserating or celebrating.

Anyone got any pre England match superstitions? I bought a new England shirt for this tournament. I wore it once for the Ghana game, we drew 0-0 and I then spent the evening with norovirus and hocking my innards out for the first time in 8 years. It has now been banned as its clearly bad luck...

Bit of fun ain't it, I was a dyed in the wool Villa fan when they played Forest a few months ago

English fans desparate for their rivals to support them is a bit weird, can't think of another situation in football where that's the case. I remember being a bit uncomfortable in 2016 when Forest fans said they wanted us to win the league. Like, **** off?

Who said anything about English fans being desperate for Scottish support?

Well Scaloni was right, it's a football match.

So on the basis of it being just a football match…why would any neutral nation support the team that’s cheated its way this far on top of 2022 and 86?

Because you never cheer on your rivals. Forest could be playing Satan's XI and I'd cheer against them.

England vs Scotland is the oldest rivalry in all world sport, why diminish it?

Not asking Scots to cheer for England😂😂😂.

Just questioning why Scots would go actively out of their way in this case to cheer for Argentina considering things both on and off the field. I find it weird, like many.

Genuinely don't understand what's weird about it.

I can't stand Argentina but I'd cheer them on over Scotland because I have Scottish friends and family and it's funny taking the piss out of their team. It's really not that complicated.

I get it because of the rivalry between England and Scotland ( which isn’t anything to do with Football as that’s completely one sided).

But to actively identify with and passionately support Argentina is weird, to me and many others. Thats what I’ve been saying.

I find the ‘anyone but England’ mentality weird, too.

Allowing your neighbour to dictate your sporting identity I just think is bizzare.

With all due respect I can't understand how this is surprising to anyone who is truly into football and you only have to look at some of the threads on here last season. After all what was the result we cheered the most over the last 12 months?

I think what you're trying to say in a subtle way is that Scotland can cheer against England but not in this case for Argentina because of the history and politics. But if you bring history and politics into it then of course the Scots are entitled to point out they have more issues there with their neighbours than with a South American country thousands of miles away.

I’d already mentioned on and off the field. It isn’t just because of the Falklands, that would be one reason of many.

I know some Scots through work and family friends and the majority of them do find some of the fanatical support of Argentina in this case as weird behaviour.

We’ll just agree to disagree on this one 🤷‍♂️…I find it weird and unusual, you don’t.

That’s why I would start Rashford over Gordon give them something to think about he is a lot more direct and a natural goalscorer with him not playing in the lat two he should be fitter as well
