Seagrave is worth absolutely **** all because it's a monstrous facility that costs absolutely loads to run and it's in Seagrave.

Tell me another business case for that facility that values it ant anything like what we paid to build it.

It was a terrible decision to build it, a terrible decision to keep the other one at the same time and it's culminated in this mess.

Its value I think comes from the land, from a footballing perspective its value is questionable as you said, no proven benefit for our first team, ex players calling it a sauna,
I would prefer first team to go back to old training ground, and only keep seagrave for PSR purposes for us to keep getting rid of our best youth players, since we no longer capable of keeping them anymore.  Problem is I am not if thats even a PSR benefit, as we might sell a youth player for a few million, but then spend more then that on a signing to fill the position the youth player would have taken in the squad.

There are many problems with the current ownership. Largely being shit at running a football club. But the debt argument is completely over blown. There isn't much.

Is there a reliable indication of exactly how much debt the club currently has?

Seagrave needs to be kept if said owners have any ambitions to be PL again but a lot of it needs mothballing and given minimum maintenance (golf course / some of the pitches) or shut down (swimming pool, bedrooms). Consider playing the women there (not sure of the rules). Shut the kitchen and have caterers.

I'm sure with some radical thinking costs can be made.

We won the EPL without seagrave, its a landmark to show off, but its football value isnt that.

If we were to keep it, as you said get rid of 3/4 the pitches, golf course, swimming pool and other sauna type facilities, and also do something to force the players to travel through the city, so they in and about with normal people instead of isolated away from the vibe.  Players like ulloa have spoken how important it is to see people every day who the club means a lot to them.  Maybe every time we lose a game a jog through some council estates for fitness.

Totally overblown nothing to see here 👀

They just had to draw down our second parachute payment in the first season. Irrespective if it was all utilised, the need was still there

Why would they want to share a training ground with us when they extensively renovated their own just a couple of years ago?

Obviously joking 😝

Meaning that someone said that debt is overblown.

It’s not if you take away potentially two parachute payments. Which are now not available

A lot of talk about the value of the club here only considers bricks and mortar, the squad, the debts.   but i think one element of real value in today's economic climate that nobody has mentioned, is our insane social media catchment.  Only 6 teams in england have a bigger social media following than leicester, even globally we rank highly, and had tiktok existed in 2016 we'd probably be even higher.

Now i'm not saying everyone who follows us actually still follows us - but in a world where advertising rules all having a social media catchment of 24M is a juicy nibble for an owner who believes they can get us into the top flight again.  that's more than newcastle, west ham, everton, villa...

Maybe we could get the Women doing the dinners and cleaning ?

Thats a cash flow issue not a debt issue.

Although they are expected to be lower in the next accounts release, Based on the accounts published in 2025, total liabilities was £286 million

£103 million to Macquarie bank

£60 million to King Power

£81 million in transfer fees

£42 million to other creditors, provisions and liabilities

When would those have been paid and how much?

When Luton got relegated they got 49 and 40m

I think we were nearer 55 and 44m and they cashed the second year with a loan in year one to aid cash flow but it’s not know how much was used

So potentially £99m of income that’s not available anymore.

They also cleared 124m worth of debts and loans to the parent company in Jan 25 a move which strengthened the Club’s balance sheet, reduced interest costs and relieved the Club of all remaining shareholder loans at the time, that doesn’t look like it will be happening again

To aid cash flow last season prematurely to stop it becoming debt or the need for KPI or Top subsidising the shortfall with more shareholder loans

Thanks for the info

I’m shocked that some people want to believe this is not a problem and bury their head in the sand hoping it’s not true.
When do we get to a point where they start to think 🤔 anything apart from ohh

what debt everything is ok.

By this metric Jason Derulo is about 8x as valuable as Leicester City, I wonder if he could be a potential buyer.

Those are figures at the end of the 24/25 season. 53mn of the transfer fees were current payables (ie will have been paid in the 12 months following), I would imagine a good chunk of the balance was payable this summer so that should be massively reduced given limited actual purchases since then.

The Macquarie debt is mostly transfer/parachute receivables so as long as the PL or buying clubs don't default will be repaid directly by them. KP amounts will be factored into any sale price and the balance isn't material.

I don't think debt is the issue here, it's lack of income to fund day to day running costs over the next season or so and whether  we have an ownership prepared to accept their trophy asset is worth a lot less than they'd like (especially as they're not selling from a position of strength).

We’re in debt , debatable how much but we’re definitely in Debt

then we have a huge lack of income which causes more Debt.
Plus players still at the club on high wages for a League One Club.

= Debt - which is an issue

am I wrong with this analysis?

Yeah that tends to be how credit agreements work, but its not like the cash isn't there at the end of it.

Aren’t all clubs in debt?

Most clubs and business’ are “in debt”. The debt isn’t the issue, you can have a tonne of debt if you can still service it properly. The main quibble on here is quoting accounts that are now more than 12 months out of date.
